I need a new hinged license plate bracket. Mine has gotten old and I've noticed this trip that when I stop, it has fallen down and the plate is not readable and the gas cap is exposed. I fixed it once but it's too loose to stay closed. It is nearly 10 years old. Where can I find a new one?

Thanks!

Is this on the TV or trailer?

If it's for the TV, I'm not sure if chain auto parts stores carry them. You should check @ a dealer or auto wreckers.

I would spend a couple hours at the local salvage yard. Many cars have the same style of spring mounted frames. Holes may not be exact.
You could look at your Bounder's existing one for a manufacturer name.
You may even be able to switch out the springs to make your existing one operate properly. Springs from salvage yard, as I doubt whether any auto parts store would have them.

I would think it would be fairly simple to rig up a spring to the plate holder that would allow you to fill and have it return the plate to the upright position. Necessity is the mother of invention.

The mid-size RWD cars (Malibu/Monte Carlo/Cutlass/Regal/Century/Gran Prix/Le Mans) GM built from '81 to the '87 model year had a standard style that you might be able to use. That's what's on my Monte.

The large RWD "B" body cars (Caprice/Bonneville, et cetera) probably had the same style as well. Not positive as it's been a while since I was around those "boats".

I can MacGyver it when I get home, but it's on the older side and fairly rusty, and the rubber bushing/bumpers it abuts are also old and cracking. I'd rather replace it than rig a fix if possible. Of course it has stayed upright these past several hours of driving, just because I threatened it with replacement.

I would check the JC whitney type of places online. That seems like something they would carry. I googled "flip down license plate holder" and got quite a few results. Shouldn't be an issue finding one.

Thanks! I was googling with hinged license plate bracket and coming up short. Found some that will work with 'flip down.'

Until you find a new one, use industrial strenght velcro to hold it shut.
