Does anyone have a Malibu as a toad? We have a 2004 Jeep Unlimited Wrangler and are looking at trading for a 2008 Malibu. This trade has more to do with better gas mileage while driving than anything but it also needs to be our toad for the MH.

I purchased the 2008 Malibu LTZ strickly for towing, it was a great car till 11 months after I purchased it.
It started to smell moldy and I found water under the carpet when I went to pull the fuse for towing. I couldn't see the water in the car because the carpets are made of molded plastic and are water proof. So say the ac unit condenser drain got plugged up and it started leakin inside the passenger side of the car, water accumilated under the carpets in the front and back area of the vehicle.
I took it to the dealer and they changed out the carpets and pads and supposed to have cleaned the car but it still is still smelling moldy. Now they are spraying something in the ac to clear the smell. Other than this problem I love the car.
I understand that this is a common problem with the Malibu per the Malibu forum.
Just letting you know about my problem with my Malibu.
You may want to check out the Malibu forum yourself.

All Chevrolet Malibus from year 1997 to present are towable 4-wheels down without modifications necessary.

In addition, if you want to make a simple modification to the car, it can be towed without removing any fuses and without the necessity to have the key in the ignition and turned to the ACC position. It involves disconnecting the transmission interlock cable near your shift lever inside the center console. No need to even have the key in the ignition switch while towing.

Anyone interested in this modification, please send me you email address. My email address: whemme@earthlink.net I towed an earlier 1998 Malibu for approximately 45,000 miles and my current 2005 Malibu for approximately 25,000 miles with this mod and it makes towing a piece of cake.
