I am new to owning an RV and wondered if anyone has had the following problems with their lifts.I am aware that the emergency brake must be on and in park with engine running. The fluid level is OK but the lift down light always remains on and the lifts are up. When I try to lower the lifts all I get is a high pitch sound and nothing happens.Fleetwood said it might be the float switch?. When I checked the voltage under the hood at the lifts fuse there is none eventhough the PowerGear pad lights?. Could anyone suggest any further steps I could try to correct this.I also have been trying to locate the control module for the LR slide and was told by Fleetwood twice it was located inside the cabinet behind the inside breaker/ fuse panel for coach.I traced the wire from the key control and followed it behind over the side door entering the ceiling area above the sink.I could not find the module? This unit is suppose to be about 2x3 inches in size and may or may not have a fuse?. This all happened when I replaced the coach batteries at first with 12 volts instead of six volts. It seems the fuses would have blown before something shorted out/ Thank you for any suggestions, Rob

You can download the manuals at powergearus.com

If you search for my threads, I rebuilt my pump a couple months ago, and put some pictures up.

A few basics...

The jacks down light is controlled ONLY by the level of fluid in the reservior, as sensed by the float switch. If this light is on, the jack panel will be dead, hiyyinh any button will not give any response at all.

There is a "ford solenoid" attached to the pump assy which switches power to the pump motor. If you hear it clicking when you press a button, then the electronics are good, the problem is in the big stuff, motor pump, etc.

mine had a bad lower motor bearing and a worn out pump.
sometimes the motor wouldn't run, wacking it would make it work
when it did run, it was very whiney, the jacks would move but had no lifting power.

My little 2x3 slide module you are searching for is on the left side wall behind the Magnatek AC Breaker box with DC fuses behind a panel to the right of AC. To get to the DC fuses two screws have to be looseend to allow the plate to move to open. That unit is below the oven behind a faux drawer front that swings down. There is a latch on top that allows the panel to hinge forward. There is romex going to the AC distribution and solid heavy guage wire going the the DC fuses. If yours is the same as mine, the control module for the slide has smaller gauge wire. I do not have my rig or diagrams here but I vaguely remember a power gear fuse in that dc fuse panel to the right of the AC breakers. I don't know if you are a 50 amp rig or not. We are a 30Amp with no transfer switch. ie. We have to plug the power cord into the generator receptacle when not on shore power. Our Power Gear lifts are manual and the control panel will operate the jacks with low fluid but that beeper and blinking light will not go out until the reservoir is full. My resevoir is hidden behind a panel in the house battery compartment so it took me awhile to find it and fill the resevoir to get that alarm quiet. I understand many applications will not work at all with low fluid or a bad float. Hope this helps.

Rob,

You didn't say if you have two slides. On my 2002 31W the panel opens up in the bedroom where the slide key is. On the inside is two circuit boards. They have the same type connection and look the same. One has a 15amp fuse on the end and the other has a 20amp. The 20amp is the living room slide. If you have two like I do unplug one and plug the other wires into it.(very gently) That is how I found out which to replace when the bedroom slide would not work.

As for the jacks I would only say that if they are up and you checked fluid in up position then something else is going on.

Good luck

If you hooked up those 12 v batteries the same as you had the 2 six volt batteries, ( in series) you put 24 volts into the system. There could be more problems with other electronics. Is this what happened? Let us know and we can go from there.
Look at this link and scroll down to where the 2 12 volt batteries and the 2 six volt batteries are wired. See the difference? If you wired the two 12 volts like the two six volt ones, you have doubled the voltage from 12 volts to 24 volts.
