Most every state allows you to open carry (in plain view holstered on your hip), so no, you don't necessarily need a concealed carry permit. You may want to have a proof of ownership method, however; should you be stopped and asked for it.
Anything behind the driver's compartment in an rv is usually considered the same as your home, so as long as you don't leave it on the seat in plain sight, you will be ok.
Personally, with a revolver I leave the chamber in-line with the barrel empty. With a pistol, magazine is loaded and kept next to the pistol. Rifles and shotguns stay unloaded unless I'm hunting.
Verify each state's position on open-carry, and you'll be fine.

How true! If you have a concealed carry permit you are good to go. Even when I fly to MI I take my guns.

Instead of someone's OPINION of what the laws are, go to the source. One very good source is

This site will tell you exactly what each state's laws are.

For handguns check into a Utah handgun permit. While it's not universal it does cover a lot of states.

There should be no problems unless you are storing it in plain sight, and leaving it loaded. Just pack it in a "good" hiding spot, and you will be fine. Highly unlikely that the police will pull you over, and request to search for weapons, unless you have a warrant out on you. If they are pulling you over it is likely for a driving violation, and that is all that would be dealt with.
I have a federal consealment permit, and have never been asked if I have a weapon onboard.
CHK_FRV - How do you carry your guns while flying to MI? I thought guns were prohibited on aircraft.

If you have it properly carried in your checked bagage and inform when checking your bags, no problem. Have done it many of times when flying. They will want to see it and ammo must be in seperate box.

There is a plethora of mis-information being dished out here, some of which recommends that you break the law.
Again, go to the source, find out what the law is in the states you intend to visit, and act accordingly.
