My son, a 25 year old graduate student working on his MBA, has been offered a job in Atlanta in Jan and may need to use our camper to live in until he can get on his feet and see if it works out..
Any ideas of decent places to stay??
He will need WIFI. How are the State parks that are close by? I think there was a campground on Lake Allatoona we visited once.

I stayed at a Passport America one on the west side of town just off the interstate near an amusement park. don't know if it even still exists but it was certainly acceptable.

The choices are limited close enough to Atlanta to commute. On the northside is Twin Lakes, a very safe reasonable priced RV Park in an upscale part of town. It is very close to GA Hwy 400, a major commuting artery into Atlanta. On the northeast side is Jones RV Park, located in a very dangerous part of town and the park itself is a dump. On the east side is Stone Mountain RV Park, located inside the wonderful Stone Mountain Park itself. Monthly sites are available, although the park itself is old and outdated. The entire park is gated, but some of the neighborhood around the park is a little questionable. On the south is Atlanta RV Resort, an old worn out KOA that is really just a dump. It would be marginally adequate, but that is it. On the northwest is Atlanta Marietta Campground. It has very small sites, many, many permanent residents, expensive, and located close it I75, another major commuting artery into Atlanta, but in an area of Marietta that has gone downhill. Further north there are two parks, one in Cartersville, and another in Adairsville, both very adequate but a long distance commuting into Atlanta. Hope this helps, PM me if you need more information.

That was the old Arrowhead campground, now condo complex. There is a private campground that allows monthlys at Tallapoosa, west of Atlanta that is decent. There are others east and south of town, I am not familiar with them.

McKinney Campground in Cartersville and the Stone Mountain Campground are both really nice!

The state park north of Atlanta is Red Top Mountain. He may have a problem staying there as Georgia State Parks have a 14 day limit. He he only needs to stay a month, he might be able to talk them into letting him stay, or he could move to a nearby Wal-Mart for one day and then have another 14 day stay. There is a CG south of Atlanta called Atlanta South RV Resort. It does not get very good reviews, but for a short time it may be an option. Link to Atlanta South RV Resort (The link does not seem to be working right now. Not sure if there computer is down or the link is bad. I got it from google search for Atlanta South RV Resort) Good luck.

If your son is working on the south or west side of Atlanta, you might check-out Banning Mills RV Park in Whitesburg. If he is working downtown or on the east side, I'd go with Stone Mountain . Years ago when I camped there until my family came-up, they let me stay 6 weeks. For the North West on Lake Allatoona, there is Redtop Mountain State Park, and there are a few COE parks around the lake. Maybe he could get by staying a couple of weeks at each.

Due 14 days at Red Top, then move right down Glade road to McKinney. If you needed a few more days go back to Red Top. The gate at McKinney is locked 9p-7a, Red Top has an electric gate.
