Intuit has issued a patch to Quicken Deluxe-Release 6 which upgrades it to Release 7.
DON'T DO IT!
It creates significant problems, and error messages. They are working on a solution, and will advise when a fix is available.
Go to the Intuit web site, and check into Error "Patching engine error" CSI 2421 for their latest status.

I have Quicken Deluxe on one of my PC machines and yesterday downloaded "Release R 9".
Donno about your release 7.

My warning only applies to Quicken Deluxe 2009. Which Version of Quicken do you have?

Wow, I'm still using Quicken 2004! I suppose if I ever get a new computer with Windows 7 (I'm still using XP), I'll have to update my Quicken (assuming Quicken 2004 doesn't work with Windows 7...otherwise, I see no need to update).

According to the updated article, Intuit has identified the problem with R7 and they need to supply you with a new download for Quicken. Please see this support article here.

 We have you beat by one year, we still have Quicken 2003 and have not seen any need to update as of yet. We don't use all that online gismos that they offer we mainly use it to reconcile accounts.

BTW, version 2010 is out now. Since I'm a bleeding edge techie, I have it and it fixed the R7 problems with 2009. If you are using a linux/Wine setup don't move to 2010 yet, there's a couple of problems with the file access.
