I'm looking for feedback from fellow canucks who have used the winegard roadtrip in motion satelite tv system with bell expressvu in Florida. I'm curious to know how well it worked while in motion and while parked in Florida. How far south does it pick up the expressvu signal?

Having this system while traveling with the kiddies would make life a lttle easier not to mention easier setup on arrival.

thank you for all your input.

I cn't comment on the Winegard but can tell You that Bell Express vue has to be the worst choice when it comes to Satellite Systems! You would be better off with the Other, * Choice!

I have some general info for you. Make sure your satellite receiver works properly before you leave home and have it ON ALL THE TIME. If it gets out of sync you have to call Expressvue and you can not do it long distance from Florida because they will disable your receiver. As far as signal goes I would expect weaker signal as you travel north; going south the signal should get better.

Simple, Have a friend go to your house and use you phone to call them. We use a non motion auto seeking Direct TV in CAN with out major problems until we get to far North and it can see over the horizon.

I'm not from Canada but I do know a bit about ExpressVu

For one thing like Dish Network here in the US it uses two birds for "Standard" (NTSC) television and I don't know how many for HDTV, I do know the two birds carry a lot of HD channels. This makes it very hard for a dome in that domes can see one, and only one, satellite at a time. so if you have two receivers, or a DVR that can record two shows at onec and you want to watch or record two different shows which are on two different birds.. You have a big problem,, Solution is two domes by the way.

I don't know what Starchoice uses so can't comment on that

2nd's I have read many reports that say that BellVu Express works only down to something like new mexico in the US. (I'm guessing about (I-40 possibly I-20) and thus it won't likely work in Flordia

Starchoice.. I hear, feeds all the way to Mexico.

So, I'm going to recommend you research Starchoice...

Oh, and I'll be interested in reading what you find out, since I have told you in this post most everything I know about them.

I have no experience with the in motion domes but one you have arrived... I do that with a manual open faced dish with no problem in SW Florida however my neighbour across the street had an auto tuning dome and it could NOT even find the Expressvu satellite. When he installed a normal dish on his shed roof, he no longer had the problem. I think the reason is simply that the elevation angle from SW FL (57-58 degrees) is quite low and the dome was not able to go low enough.

At one time there were complaints about missing some channels in the 700's due to the satellite footprint but since I don't use those channels, I don't know if it is still true. I get everything I am subscribed to.

Heed the warnings about calling them with a problem, they will get very nasty very quickly. (You are contravening your service agreement!!) On the other hand Starchoise has no such qualms about your use of their service south of the border they encourage it and will provide all the help you require.

P.S. If you do loose the channels because you were off-air for too long, you DO NOT need to call them. You can re-sync the receiver over the internet by using their web site self service.... I suggest you look this up on the website and try it before leaving home. You will not affect your service in doing so even if you are not out of sync at that point but you will have figured it out.

For satellite dish settings, simply go here:

Thank you for your post.

I have been using Bell for about ten years. 4 years in Florida. Have always had great reception down there with the exception of the keys. I can pull in the signal in miami but not key largo.

Regular tv is carried on nimiq 91 and HD is carried on nimiq 82. so unless i want hd while on the road, i'll be ok with just one dome. One "bird" for standard and one "bird" for HD.

My regular manual setup dish works great down to miami, I am hoping a dome will give me the same or better reception while down there.

Cheers.

I have had to re SYNC my programming while in Florida and bell has had no issue whith me while traveling. I have had to re sync almost every time. I've done it on line and mostly on my cell phone from the campground to back home and they have had no issues even after knowing I was south of the border.

I guess as long as the bill is paid....

Thank you for your reply.
