I ended up having to replace what was a perfectly good battery after diluting the electrolyte.
Someone might tell us 'is it okay to empty the batteries and start all over with new electrolyte?' Would this be a possible solution? A chem to refresh the plates? Lot's to be learned about batteries.
Ideally the fluid you put back into a cell should be the same specific gravity as the fluid in the cell. If the battery was fully charged when the fluid was lost new acid could be added. If the battery was dead the lost fluid would have been water. Anywhere in between to do it right you would need to match the SG to what is in the cell.
