From Helen, GA to Hiawassee, GA with 5th wheel in tow. Hwy 17/75 from Helen looks like a curvey road with switchbacks. How is 76 from Clayton, GA to Hiawassee?

Thanks for your help.

Mountain Directory East is a handy reference which lists steep and curvy roads in the eastern states. A companion is Mountain Directory West.

That is a journey without a good route. My 1st thought was US-129 from Cleveland to Blairsville. It is multi lane, but it is STEEP and CROOKED. However US-76 from Blairsville to Hiawassee is pretty good 2 lane. And if your going to GA Mountain Fair Grounds you don't have to go through downtown Hiawassee. US-76 from Clayton to Hiawassee is to 2 lane and is crooked. The corners aren't real sharp and it's not got any bad grades, but don't expect to make real good time. You do NOT want to tow anything on GA 348 toward Blairsville, I've driven over that from Vogal to Helen. If I was going to make this trip I think I would go GA 17/75. It's a lot shorter, and I'm not so sure any of the other routes are much better. #2 would be GA 197 past Moccasin Creek State Park to US-76. I driven from US-76 to Moccasin Creek, it’s like US-76 lots of curves.
