We have gone to the same place for the last 10 years for vacation. Now our group wants to expand their horizons. The guys are looking for good mountain biking trails and heard there were good trails around the Jim Thorpe area of Pennsylvania. The ladies like hiking and kayaking. The problem is we would need a good RV park for the two of us that have campers (FHU's since we will be there a week) and the other two couples need to rent a cabin.
Is there anything like that in Pennsylvania where everyone could be located within a reasonable distance?

Look at the Wellsboro area. You have the biking trails, Hiking, & Kayaking around the PA grand Canyon cabins and campground is Stony Fork Creek campground. I looked but their website is down at the moment.
Good Luck!

Mountain Vista Campground will put you at the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area. Lots of biking, hiking, and kayaking to be found. They have full hook ups and cabins. http://www.mtnvistacampground.com/
Some State parks have both cabins and campgrounds. They don't have full hookups but many have electric with water faucets throughout the campground. Most have dump stations and showers.Go to the link for more info.
I would definitely second the PA Grand Canyon and certainly pick that over the Jim Thorpe area IMO. The Pine Creek Trail runs along the Pine River on an old railroad bed of 57 miles with various entry points along the way. It goes right through the canyon. Now we usually at Little Pine SP as that's where the cabin is, but it's only a 50 min drive up to the top of the canyon. HOWEVER, there are state parks & other campgrounds at the top and along the way too. I believe some offer cabins as well. The river is great for rafting & such.

Cowans Gap State Park. Off of PA Rt. 75 near Ft. Loudon. Nice cg for the RVs and they rent rustic cabins. Lake and swimming beach there also. Check out Raystown like other posters stated COE Parks. Only thing about Kayaking there is the big boys with their unlimited boats. Lot of good ideas posted.
Lots of camping and hiking in PA, but there are other places in the state that I prefer over the Jim Thorpe area. The Appalachian Trail is in the east, true, but it is the rockiest stretch of the ENTIRE trail. Pine Creek is very nice (already mentioned). There is some great hiking in the Allegheny National Forest as well as Cook Forest State Park. Both are in the western half of the state but worth the effort to get there.
