We are headed to Misson Texas via hwy 10. Does anyone know of any safe places to stop for the night either in Mississippi or Louisiana?
This will be our first time on this road so we'd really appreciate some input/

We stayed at the KOA in baton rouge on our way from Texas to Florida and it was a good place. Just off the interstate. Daughter enjoyed the pool and park was pretty quiet even though it was full.

Take a look at rvparkreviews.com and pick out some cities along your route where you might want to stop. There are many good parks listed there.

I just stayed at Frog City RV Park in Duson, LA (just a couple miles west of Lafayette, and right off I-10) and found it very nice. Easy to maneuver in with large pull-thru sites. They have a website.

There's a nice park (Vinton RV) at Exit 8 in LA near the TX border. For one night I've stayed in MS & LA rest areas several times. There are parks all along I-10.

If you want a place to park and sleep awhile, the Texas Welcome Center at the Texas/Louisiana state line is a good spot. Also, there is a great rest stop on US 281 45 miles south of Alice,TX, and 60 miles north of Pharr. There are a few other rest stops in western LA and east TX, but I've heard that they are not the safest places to stay overnight-OK for a quick potty break, but not to sleep. DPS checks the welcome center regularly when they turn around at the state line on patrol, so it seems OK.

For overnight RV parks, Lake Texana State Park is a good choice. It's just a few miles off US 59 and you shouldn't need reservations this time of year.

Also, we stop every year on the way to the valley at Sea Breeze RV Park in Portland, just across the bay from Corpus. Level pull thru sites that are long enough to leave rig hooked up. (also has fantastic sunsets across the bay!!! Grab a cool beverage and a rocking chair on the clubhouse porch!) It's not far out of the way if you take US 77 out of Victoria to Sinton, then US 181 to Portland. When you leave, take 181 across the bay to I 35, US 77, and Texas 44 to Alice and US 281 to the valley. Good roads all the way!
