In the original post, I tried to bring an bad situation into the spot light. What I learned from all of this is to never be so trusting with a coach dealer again. It was my mistake. A lesson learned. Chaulk it up to inexperience, part of the rv learning curve.
I also learned that some of you were very empathic, others here have no idea what that word means. I learned that some of you had wonderful experiences buying NEW coaches. Unfortuneately I could not afford a new coach. I learned that some of you are experts in the area of buying pre owned coaches. BUT most importantly I learned to never again to bring a situation like this to the forum. Thereby avoiding being Critized and chastized for making a mistake.

again, sorry you got a bad unit..but as you stated, it is a learning experience, and an expensive one at that.

I read through this, and then I remembered the vehicles that I have bought over the 45 years or so of ownership. I also remembered some of the tradeins that I offered. One time I recall, the dealership hopped in my car and drove it around the block, stopped it, backed it up, and jumped out of it. Next day someone else bought it. I guess that was a dealer inspection.
Often times people take in a vehicle that isn't perfect. Perhaps they know what's wrong with it, or perhaps it's been a great vehicle, and nothing has broken for so long that they become afraid of it and sell it.
An independant mechanical inspection might cost a few dollars, it certainly should. That mechanic is hoping you will buy the vehicle, then come back to him to fix what he finds wrong. That assessment can be used in your favor to negotiate a better price if need be.
I don't think you can blame the dealership for selling an unsafe vehicle. It came in that way, it's in "good" shape, and that means absolutely nothing. It's like saying everything works. It might indeed, but the floor might be rotten and the roof might be full of leaks, but everything works.
I wish I had an inspection on some of the vehicles I owned, I never would have bought them. Nobodies fault but my own on the rest.
On a couple of other vehicles I have bought and didn't inspect first, the manufacturer has come forward with totally unexpected and delightful assistance to repair and replace defects, both well out of warranty. Had I done a better inspection I may not have purchased the vehicle, and would have missed out on the "warranty" work from a very proud manufacturer.

I am sorry you had that bad experiance. But read my response again. If YOU did not experiance any problem on your 1000 mile plus return trip, how can you expect the dealer to know of any problem??? HOW would the dealer know of your drivetrain problems if the unit handled OK at the dealership? If you DID experiance problems right after you left the dealer, why did you not go straight back? There is nothing wrong with bringing your experiance (good or bad) to these forums. But, when you post, make sure that you do NOT have any responsibility for your problem and then get upset when that is pointed out. In this case, you had the majority of the responsibility in your dilemma. Doug

As a previous respondent noted, you say that you learned to never bring an issue like that to this forum again, but that is exactly what you just did

If so, you might want to take another look at those glasses and check to see if they're rose-colored.

I've been beatup on here occasionally. If a person is on here long enough they will eventually get some negative comments.
Just ignore the negative people. They come and go on this forum.
I always wonder what would happen if we were all sitting around a campfire and some of the negative people made their nasty comments. I suspect there would be a little more fuel in the fire.

Sorry that you feel this forum has not served you. Recommend that any and all persons interested in purchasing a motor home take all units (new & used) on a long test drive that includes some quick to emergency lane changes and other quick maneuvers that will be required sometime while driving on highways.
We have had an excellent experience purchasing from Independence RV in Winter Garden. Our salesman was Dave Scott and we highly recommend him when anyone visits Independence RV.
