I am posting this message in hopes that I can find other people in this similar situation with Mcdonough RV in Mcdonough GA. I purchased a travel trailer July 1,2009 and have not been able to obtain a tag for it. I have a loan through a bank and am paying the bank for the travel trailer. I found out recently that Mcdonough RV has not paid their lean holder whom is holding my Title till they get their payment. The DMV shows the vehicle has not been sold so basically McDonough RV took the money from the bank and ran. There is no one at the business and they don't answer their phone. The bank, DMV, holding company and my self have called. I have mailed certified letters asking them to pay their debt so I can get my title
or I will be forced to take action. Is there anyone out there dealing with these people also? I know there were some other VIN numbers being researched as I sppoke with the auction guy in my drive way. If you know anyone or you are dealing with the same situation please contact me.

GET TO THE ATTORNEY GENERAL NOW!!!!!!.......

It is sad and criminal how people who go belly up leave customers in a legally bad situation and then are not jailed for doing so....This just happened with a dealer in NJ and it took 6 months for DMV to finally release titles to the customers....

The Georgia Attorney General and The Governor's Office of Consumer Affairs are both very effective. You should call them!

I got hit with the same problem on a vehicle purchase in July '08. I contacted the Department of Motor Vehicles Investigations Unit (here in CA, you should have something similar).

It took six months and I had to buy a title bond for DMV, but I finally got title. At least here in CA the law is on your side and if you give a vehicle to a dealer to sell, you are taking the risk... not whoever buys the vehicle. There were some legal terms when I was first checking with lawyers, but it all came down to my being the "interested third party".

In a worse situation were the people that traded in cars that weren't paid for. The dealer didn't pay them off as promised, then sold them. So they still owe the loan. The DMV investigator said the case was over a million dollars and the dealer should do jail time.

You surely aren't the only one that's been cheated and I have no doubt that the case is being pursued you just have to get your name on their list.

What the member is dealing with is happens very often in poor economic times and is presently escalating. It is very important to know if there is a lien holder on the product and exactly how it will be resolved before giving a dealer any money. There are a good number of dealers in financial distress both small and large. Many have credit ratings lower than many of their customers.

If Mcdonough RV is not answering their phones and the office is vacant it is very probable they are insolvent and your funds are gone.

In these times BUYER BEWARE is the best advice.
