I am looking at a used fifth wheel. This would be our first camper, although have been many times with my parents. This camper is a four season unit. There are 2 switches by the thermostat that say arctic pak. The owner has never used them. I was wondering what they do. She is 71 and widowed and doesn't think she can use the camper by herself. They bought it new and were snowbirds. She is very knowledgible and very helpful. There are 2 main issues I have with the camper. Bedroom height and pass thru storage plumbing. I am 6'4" and have to duck in the bedroom and the pass thru storage is broken up by plumbing. Otherwise it is the cleanest 2001 we have seen. It also has a fantastic fan, extreme vents on holding tanks, wheel covers, new 18-20 foot awning, window awnings, bumper hitch on back, 2 slides, newer tires and brakes, and bipod stabilizer for kingpin. Only 2 cons, needs a new battery and outside shower head broken. She is asking $11,000 for it. Does this seem like a good price and should I worry about my issues with it. We will probably camp a couple weeks a year and plan to live in it for about 6 months while we build a house in about 6 years. Sorry to be long winded. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks

Eric

The artic pac switches are for the pad heaters on the holding tanks to keep them from freezing. Use them only in temps below freezing and be sure to have some liquid in each tank as they have been known to warp the tanks if used when empty. Sounds like a reasonable price for the camper.

You can check NADA on line for RV prices. It will give you an idea, at least. I wouldn't worry too much about storage for week-end use. You won't need all that much. When you live in it while building a house you will have other alternatives for storage anyway. AT 6'4 you are going to have to stoop in most fiver bedrooms. Cardinals are good rigs.

Sounds like a fair price to me. I'm 6'2" and I can feel the ceiling in the bedroom move my hair as I walk. I don't think your going to find a taller bedroom.

I have a 02 model and it's a well built unit. Price sounds good if everything works. Be sure you check the operation of all appliances. Check caulking in all the outside molding seams. I failed to do that last year (about 6 months after purchase) and some of the caulk fell out or one of the front cap side seams and I got some water in the cap. Now, I'm looking at a couple grand to get it replaced. Other than that... Happy Camping

$9,000 tops for that rig $11000 is way to much as you would be lucky to have it last for six years without a major repair. go to the NADA.com and enter the model then offer her low retail with NO options that's all its worth at best
