We'll be heading to RGV for the first time, also first extended trip and was thinking what cargo I could manage without. We carry one of those 5 in one ladders. It takes up quite a bit of room in the storage area. Has anyone, be they agile enough, thought of carrying a set of old fashioned stilts made from 2 X 2's? As I recall they were easy to use once learned, like riding a bike. Just high enough to help reach the upper sides of the rig for waxing or minor maintenance. They would take very little space and would be lite. The other large item in cargo is the Weber Q, and I don't want to leave that at home I guess another option is this ladder but I've got too many ladders already.
On edit, I can see one false step putting a damper on our stay.

I have that telescoping ladder. It is from Telesteps. Discount stores have them for $90-$150.
I have a cargo pod on my roof. I use the ladder to get up to the cargo pod.
To stow the ladder, I lay it flat, somewhat extended across my rear bumper (rachet tied down). In that position, it doubles as a rear cargo carrier for lawn chairs, coolers, etc etc

Yes, it is a crazy and dangerous idea. You want to wax the MH while on vacation and use stilts to do so? What part of this doesn't sound crazy?
Take the ladder out and wax the MH when you get home.
Stilts = hospital unless you are a Ringling Brothers Circus performer.

I carry a light weight 6 ft aluminum step ladder, but I would consider buying one of these folding ladders as a replacement.

I carry a folding ladder like Dutch mentions, only it is 7 feet. On level ground, I can reach the top of the MH.

OK stilts would work. Or, if you're really agile & quick. . .

I keep one of the telescoping ladders behind the rear seat in my dually all the time. Very handy and takes up little space.

I think the new ladder looks to be somewhat less money than a trip to the Emergency Room!!!
