At the end of December we will be heading south. We will visit some friends for a day or two on the way to Florida. They live in Rome Georgia but do not have a place for us to park our fifth wheel. Is there a campground reasonably close that will be open. We could unhook and drive the truck to visit, but they cannot accommodate a fifth wheel. Thanks for your suggestions.

James Sloppy Floyd State Park would probably fit the bill.

There is a closer campground in an area called Texas Valley just north of Rome. The Georgia Department of Natural Resources web site gives some information about it. Check the visitor's guide at the website and it gives camping information, directions and a phone number.

Last year we visited a friend in Rome, GA and we parked the 5er at Red Top Mountain State Park about 20 miles out of Rome, GA. We loved it and so did our grand children.

James H Floyd park is great. Maybe 15 to 20 minutes from downtown Rome. We go to church with the park ranger. Texas Valley is very nice too. Looking at your signature and the size of your rig about half of James H Floyd are pull thru. In December you should not have any trouble getting a pull thru.
