I tried to find the areas in Canada that Bill Gates Foundation supplied Wireless and Internet access to. Could you please supply your source of information so I can compare donations within Canada
Thanks

I do recall reading that they focused their efforts to bring internet access to poorer communities, and on places north of 60.

In a number of schools and libraries that we visited, the computers had a notebook of instructions for the use of the systems. Invariably, the cover or the title page of the notebook had a statement saying that the system was provided by the bill and melinda gates foundation.

Do a google on bill and melinda gates foundation, internet access, canada libraries and schools and you will find some references. I've done so, but as you know, every time you google something you are likely to get a different set of answers.

I think you could also contact the foundation directly. Nothing they've done in Canada is secret.

Our daughter lives in Saskatoon, SK so our Alaska trip really started and ended there. Here is a list of campgrounds we stayed in with WiFi. Signal strength and speed varied greatly from one park to another. Since WiFi was not a requirement for us you can imagine there are probably a great number of parks offering the service. Also, bear in mind this was in 2009 and will probably change in 2010.

WiFi was free in the park unless indicated.

Fulltimers. No more grass to cut, no more leaves to rake, and can move if we don't like our neighbors.

States we spent time in, drive throughs not marked.

Why dont you try buying a wi-fi booster to connect to you wireless signal that way you dont have to get charged per month or even by the minute. I use the Wi-Fire from hfield technologies and it works great. Basically its s usb adapter that uses line of sight to connect from a distance away to the internet/network. I had the wi-fire for over a year now and thats all i use. whether im at home or away on vacaction. It allows me to pick up many wireless internet connections and increase my signal strength as well.... you can look them up at hfield.com....good luck hope i could help ya out..Never been to alaska but sounds pretty neat..let me know how things go for ya.
