Three weeks ago I started the M/H to let it warm up and ran the generator..Today went out to start the M/H and batteries were so low the m/h would not start. We keep it plugged into electric so the onboard charger would work..something sure discharged the batt's. Now I did check the batt's for h2o and they were ok, before I started the m/h 3 weeks ago..any thought's on what made this happen???I'm at a loss, never had this happen before, also no interior lights were on,altho with hooked up to el. this should not have mattered.
The batt's are just over a year old, Interstate. This is a 07 Holiday Rambler Neptune with a 325 Cummins...
Thanks
Bill

Your coach may be wired such that the shore power does not charge the chassis battery. That is common. On my rig, the engine/chassis battery is only charged by the alternator on the engine.

Loads like interior lights if left on would not normally drain your chassis battery as they are usually run by the house battery.

However, the chassis battery should not discharge in three weeks of sitting.

1. Are the batteries old and near the end of their life? Have someone load test them at an autoparts store.
2. Are the connections at the battery terminals clean for good contact? (I just had this problem on one of my cars.)
3. Did some chassis power draw get left on to discharge the battery?
4. Did the battery have a full charge when the rig was last parked? If not see number two above and/or check your alternator output at the battery terminals.

Mine's wired the same way. I added the Trik-L-Start so that everything gets charged now

On our 2007 Monaco Knight, our manual says that our chassis batteries are charged when plugged into shore power but they are NOT. When I called to ask Monaco about this, they acknowledged that the manual is incorrect. They said that feature was only available on "high end" models that year.

Before you give someone a piece of your mind, make sure you can get by with what's left.

The only way to tell for sure is to use a volt meter and take a reading at the battery terminals when the coach is plugged in.

You probably need a Trik-L-Start combiner

Dave is correct. That part of the manuals was overlooked. Every manual I have looked at says the same thing. On my Dynasty, the charger/inverter charges all the batteries. Follow your battery cables from your manual shut off switches. One short cable should attach to a battery maintainer if you have one. Mine has the LE-415, pic below. It could be Green/Red or Gold.... Good luck....Dennis

On our HR the auto step runs off the chassis battery NOT the house batteries. Its done this way so that the step will still work even if you have the house batteries off. If I leave the step switch on (the little red light on the panel lite) it will kill the chassis battery.
