It turns out after $2400 worth of work, I end up with one MaxAirFan vent that does not work right, and my refrigerator that he checked out ok goes bad with ammonia smells after 2 days use. The Vent work they will honor, and as far as refrigeration I am going to use some kind of glorified ice box for my needs. I can't afford a new one and often prefer things that do not have to be fixed. Somewhere in my printed posts from another site I have an ad for something I think called the Kool-Aire(not sure), sort of a substitute refrig. I guess with an older unit there is alot of working and re-working. Doug in Durham.

More to the story?
What exactly did CW do for $2400?
Seems like an awful lot for a new vent and some frig work?

I think that Kool-aire was more of a ice cooler air conditioner, than an actual icebox.
Oops, on edit, I found that it's actually Kooleraire.com

You might want to see about getting some dry-ice (many grocery stores will carry it) and put that in the freezer of the RV's fridge.

We bought a small dorm fridge for less than $100 at Walmart, and used that for cold cuts, etc.....and put the drinks in an ice chest.

I'm also curious as to what was wrong with the fridge previously? I had mine repaired (replaced the cooling system) for free (Norcold Recall), and had the control panel replaced for about $150 at the local dealership.

I'd always heard that CW was expensive...but you could have had a new fridge installed for that kind of money??? And had a warranty!

Pap, I will have to check the subst. frig. solution I have the notes somewhere. I heard that a block of ice will last a good while. I am not familiar with the way dry ice works, how long will that last? What doees the Walmart frig. work off of? When I took the frig. in it was just to check it and other appliances to see if they were working. At his check he said it worked fine. The $2400 was for 2 MaxAirs all the appliance checking and a new AC. Does anyone else out there have the MaxAir fan-vent units. I need some clarity on how those work. I read the literature and have tried it several times but not clear on it yet.By the way a new replacement frig. for mine is $1200. Thanks Doug in Durham

Pap, you were right about the Kooler.Aire it is a sort of AC not a frig. Back to the books to find another alternative. Doug in Durham

If you feel Campimg World didn't do as they were supposed to, contact the store manager for a do over! Its rather hard to tell from your post, which started off with "It turns out after $2400 worth of work"...what work, a fan install and a refrigerator checkup for $2400.00? Sorry that shortly after your refrigerator needed a check up it failed, but was it going bad to begin with?

It turns out that the Camping World Chairman and CEO (and a fellow RVer!) Marcus Lemonis hangs out here on RV.Net (RV.Net Member mlemonis) and is a terrific guy genuinely concerned if you had issues with his stores!

Fordsooper, the $2400 included two new maxairvents, with modifications, a new AC and checking out all my appliances. The price was fair, its just that now I have to make a special trip back there to have a faulty MaxAir looked at. Thanks for the advice though and I'll keep note of the name you gave. There are too many RV repair places though, that one should think he does not have to worry about the competition. Doug

Now this sounds promising: Novakool Refigerators

Tiger Motorhomes has switched to this unit.

From what I can determine, low current draw, AC only (require an inverter for boondocking), no angle, more capacity as compressor driven, various sizes.

Something to consider.

Best of Luck

If I would guess same or less because of the technology is cheaper then the standard RV refrigerator.

On the link they have two options:
1. Distributors in USA link 2 of them
2. Contact Us link which I would use if interested.

The quick cool is very nice option compared to our current type of refrigerator's. Not having to maintain level is also a big bonus if the low current draw works well with RV batteries when off the AC grid.

Happy Trails
