We are on the road again and was looking for campground recommendations for St Louis. Visiting a niece but not staying with her and want to take in some of the sites before heading south.

Casino Queen campground. It's on the Illinois side of the river from Saint Louis. Very safe and convenient to a lot of Saint Louis attractions. You can even take the metro link for transportation into Saint Louis if you choose not to drive.

The Red Barn Rendezvous CG in Edwardsville, IL (also across the river) is also a good choice. I believe they're open all year (a rare event in this area of the country) and are clean & decent. Convenient to I-55, which means some road noise, but maybe 15-20 minutes from downtown STL. Nice park, pleasant owners.

Was at the Eureka/St. Louis West KOA back in 2004. Very nice although maybe not close enough to St. Louis to suit you. Casino Queen is almost literally in the shadow of the St. Louis Arch; we've never stayed there but some posters like it. Avoid Cahokia RV Parque on the IL side of the river (in Cahokia). Ick.

We were considering Cahokia but was told to stay away from E St Louis. Thanks to the previous post that it was ICK. Casino is going to be closed. Looks like we will stay in St Charles Sundermier CG. Thanks to all for the input.
