I think that is a fair comment on Fiat as well. North Americans are judging them on their sixties and seventies vehicles, not the ones they are building now. I seem to remember that the Datsun 510's and first generation Honda Civic's although being very innovative and mechanically good cars, were a couple of the worst rust buckets of that era. The Fiats of that time were really no worse.

Where their is turmoil, lies opportunity. Many independent shops will reap a small fortune working and repairing Chrysler products for years to come.
Thanks to long term financing etc, they will wear out a long time before the payments stop. That is the real problem when Chrysler does go belly up or finalize the Fiat deal. I for one, sure am glad I do not own one.
I remember a couple of years ago, you could buy a new Chrysler for like 17,000 off the showroom floor, BUT if you bought the parts to build it with, it cost something like 75,000. Go figure.
Dodgeboy, if ANYONE anywhere in the world, KNEW what the american public needs, they would have the world by the tail. Times are a changing, and sadly it seems not one of the auto companies get it yet, or even the american public.
However, the light at the end of tunnell appears to be Obama, he can fix ANYTHING !! And if you do not belive that, just ask him.

Nope...I'll keep driving my Magnum. Worst case, I'll drive my truck...it's a 12V Cummins, which will run on essentially anything flammable. Like, say, the tank of heating oil in my cellar.
