Passed the written parts...now have the skills and driving tests...but to get there I have been told you need someone with the same license or cdl to drive the vehicle to the test. Well...that is my challenge...I'm the first of my group to do this...so I thought I would ask here is someone can lend me a hand.
I was worried also, but ended up going alone without any issues. PM me with your appointment time and date. If I can help you out, I will. I live up in Claremont.
I worried about this same issue. A friend of mine came with me. Tester never even looked at him. It was pouring rain during the pre trip. Tester said lets make this quick so I did. Most important thing to remember is to show him that the trailer brakes are working before you leave. Put the truck in gear. Apply the brakes manually, release the parking brake then let your foot off the brake.

Look under my name "Hap Hazard". I detailed the inspection and test in great detail along with some tips, i.e. go down to the DMV a couple of weeks prior to your test on the same day as your test. Sit back and watch to see if someone else is taking a test (my rural DMV had people testing all day as they only tested one day a week). Simply hang back and follow that person on their driving test. Once you've discovered the route you can drive it and look for crosswalks, school zones, speed limits etc. You'll also find where the examiner will have you change lanes, do your back up test and parking. My pre-trip inspection was very complete and I was marked down for a failure to turn on my defroster to test it (still passed without any issues).
You must be careful to not miss a bunch of points but the test was very easy and is meant to show you can handle your rig. If you're sloppy, careless, or driving more rig than you can handle, they'll score you that way. Good Luck.
They told me that having passed the written was enough to get it down there and back for the driving portion but that I should carry proof of passing the written with me. I wonder if they know what they are talking about (then or now)
Good luck!

It is a function of the DMV office, each has their own rules. Up here, the Santa Theresa office requires you to bring a driver, Milpitas does not. I would go to your office before hand and observe what they require.
