Going to Henderson Beach SP the first week in Dec, would like to find a CG in the Columbus area or just south of it near Hwy 431 for overnighter. Does anyone have any suggestions? Will be in 28 ft 5'er.

It's a little out of the way but we stayed at Florence Marina SP about 30 minutes South of Columbus, across the Chatahoochee from Hwy 431. Large, level sites on a reservoir. Electric and Water, but no sewer. Cable TV is included, but you only get a few channesls. A great side trip if you have time is to Providence Canyon SP, sometimes called Georgia's little Grand Canyon.

If you want to go a bit further south, look at PECAN POINT RV PARK in Dothan. Easy in and out, large level pull thrus, full hookups. Good overnight stop spot.

South of Columbus on 431, just North of Eufala is Lakepoint Resort. It's an Alabama state park. I haven't heard a lot of real good things about it, but it should be good for an over-nighter. If it were me, I'd prefer to stay at Florence Marina State Park an the Georgia side. You can cross the river at Georgetwon/Eufala and get right onto 431 in Eufala. I don't think that way would take you much out of youir way. The roads to Florence Marina and then down to Georgetown are all good roads. And, there is a Walmart in Eufala, but, I don't know if they allow over-nighting in their parking lot. And, I'm not sure I'd want to.
