I fill my black/grey tanks with water and Dawn, Fabric softner or dish washer soap. I then let it sit for a couple days and then drain it.
It clears up the sensors for a while but then it's back to the same old problem.
I pretty much just look down inside the toilet to see what the level is.
After all, what do you expect for $125,000? Something that works?

After seven years of fulltiming, I find the best cure is NEVER dump less than half a tank of black water. Add fresh water to the black tank if necessary.
While I prep the rig to drain tanks, the bride is busy filling the toilet with fresh water. The instant I have the black water drained, she drains the toilet, and five gallons of water splashes through the three inch hole, and splashes the sides of the black tank, removing any residue. If necessary, we'll dump a second potty full. Then I close the black valve, and she dumps another full potty into the black tank, adding Aqua-Chem, or a cup of vinegar. Our tanks have always worked flawless once we started using that procedure.
Grey water has never been a problem, since that valve is usually open in CG's with full hookups, and there's usually always soap in the tank when rough camping anyway.

Winterized about four weeks ago and at first sensors registered above empty. Now that everything is sitting for awhile the sensors all read empty. Seems to always work that way.... Like was said earlier the sensors were wet and now they are dry.
Use Dawn non-bacterial dish soap and Calgon in the black water tank. After dumping, put this stuff in with about 5 gallons of water. As you are driving the sides of the tank get cleaned off. Keeps that sensor usually working. The grey and fresh water sensors have always worked good.
