I started getting concerned about buying from so far away(im in Florida)and having it delivered, once they dropped it off at my house, thats it,so I better hope all is well with it or im stuck (talking about all the little things, adjustment here, tighten there),so I started wondering about the warranty(not appliances) and asked them to give me some names of repair shops in their "network" to confirm,1st one said if I didnt buy from them, they wouldnt work on it,2nd one said they dont even sell Forest River and dont work on them,3rd said they probably would but their customers would take priority. So now Im to the point were I dont want to buy a HTT from so far away.Nothing against them, all this just made me very uncomfortable,so I called my salesman and told him how I felt and his response was, well thats fine, but im not sure if we will be able to give you back your deposit which blows me away that that would be the first thing that he would say.I gave them a $400.00 deposit YESTERDAY and asked for it back today. A local dealer is willing to match their price and I think it makes much more sense to buy local, especially when it comes time to have something done to it or warranty work.

I cant believe that a company with as good as a rep as they have would keep my $400.00,so i started looking closely at the paperwork I signed and one sheet says"any customer cancelling a unit after three days will forfeit their deposit" then on the very next page it says "all deposits are non-refundable"to which i added to the end of that"after three days" before I signed it and faxed it back to them. Now I am asking for a refund after only 1 day.

I havent talked to a manager yet as he told me they were all gone, but I did state my intentions to the salesman in an email just so I had something in writing with the date on it.I will be calling them in the morning but have no idea what to expect.I figure this to be a contract to which you have three days to cancel,if not by law then by their paperwork and/or what I wrote on it before I signed it,what do you guys think? Thanks

I HOPE you get it straightened out to your satisfaction but just remember that when you purchase from a local dealer and you drive it off of their lot "that's it" also. Of course you have the warranty (just like if you buy from RVW) so there's really no difference unless your local dealer is one of the few that will not honor the warranty unless you buy from them (a good reason NOT to buy from them or at least to have them do any REPAIR work on your RV). Good luck / Skip

Your not the first person to state that their dealer network has facilities that don't even KNOW they are on the list

Other then that I have found them to be good when selling parts. I have used their price twice to buy a camper locally but I have never actually bought from them.

Good luck on your purchase.

well, i would use the fact that they advertise that the shops in their "network" that they recommended, stated otherwise. along with the deposit language in your paperwork.

that said, we bought from a dealer farther away than RVW is from you. we knew that we would have to have someone local do the warranty work.
FR found local dealers that were willing to do the warranty work.
so for the 2 years of our factory warranty, we had dealers within a 30 mile radius that did the work. in fact, one didn't even sell any FR products.
if RVW had been a little closer than the 2000 miles(one way) that we did drive, we would have bought from them and had the same situation.

What did you use for your deposit? Credit card I hope. Local dealer has always been my preference just for the reasons you stated.

I would check any agreement for fine print in relation to a non-refundable deposit. I beleive that leaglly you can cancel any contract within 3 business days.

We purchased a Roo 19 from RVW 3 seasons ago and it was a positive experience. We have had the unit in for work and they did a good job. Fortunately for us we only live about 45 minutes from them and never had to deal with trying to get service at another dealer.

Forest River even stood behind the product even though it was out of warranty. Good Luck.

DO NOT DO THIS OVER THE PHONE!!! Send them a registered/certified letter immediately canceling the sale and put a stop payment on the check.

I am not a lawyer nor to I play one on TV. Just from experience.
If you have three days, then you need to notify them in writing, not a fax. Overnight a letter with a copy of your contract, that get's a signature that they received it, make sure it is delivered on or before the 3rd day.(FedEx not government PO). Explain your situation, inform them that you are canceling and demanding your deposit back.
If credit card you may be able to do a charge back, but inform them in writing as outlined above for future proof.
And/Or, see if the local dealer will better the deal by $500 and you will take his unit right then and there. He may do it.

Good luck and please post to let EVERYONE know how RVW treated you.
