Hope to have my new Cyclone 3010 by January. It's a 35 ft fiver. I can see how I will want to hit truck stops to fuel up the Dodge diesel for convenience when out on the interstate, but what do you do when there is nothing but hard to get into gas stations out in the boondocks?

Do you find a flat spot and drop off the trailer?

aint never dropped the trailer to get fuel. when you need fuel, you'll find you can get in and out of most any where. you pick and choose when you can, be careful the rest of the time. i keep up with how many miles i can get out of a tank and do my best to plan ahead. the big rigs can get in and out of wal-mart so i figure i should be able to fuel up there, it's usually the cheapest.

I have only been in one place that was tough to get in and out of and the reason I was there was I listened to my DW navigator. Small island trailer at 90 degrees hanging into the street, hose barely reached the tank and my wife had to stop traffic so I could back out.

I have never refueled in a Truck Stop in nearly 50 years of towing TT and 5th w.
I towed a 40 ft 5th w for several years and now tow a 34 ft TT. I just make sure that I can get out before pulling into the Sevice Station. So far so good.

Towing a 34' 5er, I too have never stopped at a truck stop. Even on rural 2 lane highways, it is usually not difficult to find a station with relatively easy access with a trailer. Don't wait until you are near empty. Plan ahead. Keep a map handy so you know what towns are coming up and just watch as you are entering a town for a station with high canopy and easy access.

This the real advantage of having an auxillarly fuel tank with 50 to 60 gal. capacity to replace the original puny sized tanks "Transferflow.com"

Look for fueling pumps that run parallel to the road, not perpendicular. Or if perpendicular, make sure there is plenty of room between the pumps and the store. Most convenience stores run them perpendicular so they can get more pumps in the same space.

Generally speaking you can fit just about anywhere. Remember those big trucks have to get in there to refuel the tanks only a short distance away. Just watch where you are pulling in for low over hangs and try to stay on the outside aisles to make exiting easier. Worse case you can always back out the way you came in.

We use truck stops because we are diesel and 60+ft long but in a pinch we've used smaller stations just fine.

Don't look around the gas islands. Many many gas stations have diesel pumps either in back or along the side that can handle anything.

Why would a fuel station be difficult to get into? I'll avoid truck stops whenever there's a choice because they're WAY to busy for my taste and usually not as cheap as other local stations. I'm always a little amazed to see people who don't think they can use regular filling stations but they can maneuver into a small campsite in a campground.
