I don't cook much -- heat up a thing or two, maybe scramble an egg, etc. So I picked up a cheap camper's set of anodized aluminum -- 1 small skillet, 1 small pot w/lid & 1 med. pot w/lid.
That said -- what do ya'll prefer to use in your kitchens? What kind of INEXPENSIVE, lightweight pots and pans do you like?
Nice to have a large pot with a lid for corn on the cob, steaming crabs or clams etc. I use aluminum foil for almost everything on the fire as long as it doesn't ooze thru the grates.It is nice to have a cam of PAM non stick also. Happy campin.

We spend more time in the 5er than we do at home, so I got a set of Wolfgang Puck at Sams. Does well. That being said, Tuesday Morning, Ross, TJ Max and Big Lots are all great for housewares for the camper. The prices are great and if you shop around you can find really good quality items at bargain basement prices. That is where I outfitted the 5er, from linens to dishes, the only exception was the stainless cookware from Sams.
If your going to camp, then a cast iron skillet is a must. You can cook breakfast, lunch, and dinner in it right over the fire or a gas burner. I don't like to cook in aluminum, as many say it becomes part of the meal you cook, as stailess steel cookware doesn't. Getting inexpensive pots and pans is a garage sale or salvation army store trip. Since many want to conserve propane, they use an electric frying pan. A cutting board is a must as is good set of knives, again, garage sale items, and if they are dull just pick up a sharpener rod. Plenty of paper plates and cups, I don't do plastic sporks, so stainless spoons, forks and butter knives. I love salads so a salad bowl, tongs, and salad bowls, I love rasberry/walnut dressing. Hot dogs and marsh mellows require a long fire fork, and if your into smoors, you need gramcracker and chocolate. And don't forget you need a fire extinguisher, near the cooking. Frosty mugs is my way of drinking beer, as a the head poured is the gas you won't have in your stomach. A set of plastic storge bowls, is also needed for the left overs. Some meals I won't eat on paper plates, so corell is the way to go, again garage sale, or salvation army store items.

I'll second that. We watch weight with MOST things in the RV but not cooking gear.

I'm thinking of replacing the big iron skillet with a smaller one, 8" and 2 inch deep.. since I really don't use the big skillet... but will agree that it is an all purpose piece of cookery.

- 1 Large frying pan (for one pan meals)
- 1 Small frying pan (good for frying a couple of eggs)
- 1 2 quart steaming pot with lid
- 1 Small sauce pan
- 1 Salad spinner
I think I got my latest set of pots (two frying pans, sauce pan, lids) at Ikea for $20 or so.
