It is time to start asking: What is everyone cooking for Thanksgiving? I was trying to back out on the turkey and just do a ham this year, but I have been over ruled by my attorney daughter in law. So I am frying a turkey and baking sweet potatoes to serve with butter and brown sugar, roasting a ham and fixing a potato salad. The rest of the family will bring the veggies, and desserts.

Anyone have any favorite recipes that they want to share?

My goal every Thanksgiving is to be so stuffed from the appetizers and snack during the football game, I can't eat the dinner. AND, I always seem to be pretty darn successful! I've started doing my snack planning but not the main course yet.

This is my time of year! Favorite holiday by far. Smoked turkey, Ham, Stuffing, Turkey Gravy, Ambrosia, Green Bean Casserole, Candied Carrots, Mashed Sweet Potatoes with Marshmallow topping (or my grandkids will kill me!), Homemade Yeast Rolls, Appetizer Tray, Pumpkin Pie w/fresh whipped cream, Pecan Pie, and probably some kind of cake cause the grandkids aren't fond of pie! Oh, and anything else the relatives want to bring. Happy Thanksgiving everybody!

Reminds me, I need to order a TurDuckIn!

I will prepare the turduckin in a grill. I'll also roast a brined and rubbed regular large turkey in a Camp Chef Keg Roaster. That's my cooking contribution for the dinner. I will leave the hams, salads, and side dishes for the women folk in the family!

We will have a pretty big group camping for TG this year, so one couple is doing a ham and I am lugging along my Nesco Roaster and fixing a turkey. I will plug it in outside, so as not to take up too much room in the RV kitchen.

I too will brine my bird, they come out so moist this way. Just a simple brine, a big handful of rock salt and brown sugar. I also toss in a two lemons that I have sliced up. Then I stick the bird in an ice chest which I have scrubbed out with some bleach and soapy water first and rinse well before adding the bird. Add the brine and enough water and ice to cover the bird. Allow to soak for several hours or over night.

I will fix the mash potatoes and stuffing at home and bring them to reheat in crock pot at camp. Of course I will use crock pot liners for easy clean up Fixing these dishes at home has worked well in the past. Other folks will bring the rest of the side dishes and desserts!

There is nothing like camping for TG. I love being outdoors and smelling all those turkeys roasting!

Since hardly no one in the family cares for turkey and such, we have always had a fish fry for Thanksgiving. Will this year too!

turkey brined in apple cider to which I've added fresh garlic, onions, an orange, and sage. First part of roasting is breast down, then flipped right side up.
stuffing
mashed potatoes and gravy
and I'm not sure what else yet
