I am thinking about buying a 2001 Jamboree 26f, but, I hate the dinette setup..
Is it practical to remove the dinette and table, and install some sort of sofa instead? I notice that there is a duct coming up under one of the dinette seats, so, don't know if it is practical.
I find it odd that so many people hate their dinette that they would consider ripping it out. I suppose if we spent a lot of time in an RV, and had no other comfortable place to rest, we might have similar feelings.
Personally we would miss our dinette. It is so nice to be able to sit together, play a game, write, eat normal, etc. The only thing I wished we did different with our special ordered RV, was to order the leather seating surfaces instead of the cloth. Leather would have made sliding in and out much easier.
I love troll3193's modification....easy to reverse, retains the bench storage, and adds center storage.

We also like our dinette. The storage underneath is valuable plus after dinner we like to make it into a bed and watch movies while cuddling. The surround sound makes the whole coach rock when a good action movie is playing.

In our 24 footer C, we took our dinette out, and put it away to put back in if we ever sell our RV. We put a small reclining chair (light and easy to move around)with a foot stool in it's place.
When we eat, we have one of those small fold up square/round plastic picnic tables that we store at the end of the couch behind the drivers seat (keeps the dogs from falling into our lap while we drive, also!), and put it up between the couch and the chair. We can seat two at the couch, and one on the foot stool, and one in the chair. More room, and way more comfortable than the dinette was, and when we're not using the table, it really opened up the entire RV.
We only ever used the dinette as a bed once, and now if we need to sleep more than the couch or overhead bed will handle, we put an air mattress on the floor, and they sleep there, with plenty of room.

We had a 22 ft TT in which we removed the dinette seats but retained the table. Since there's just the two of us, we bought two comfortable office chairs. We used them at the table and moved them around for easier tv viewing. For travel we bungeed them to the table posts. Worked extremely well.
We kept the dinette, but rarely use it as such. We keep it in the "bed" position, and with appropriate pillows, it makes a great lounger to watch TV, read, work on the laptop, etc.
Bonus-- our little Yorkie is paper trained, and when we travel her papers are on a tray on the floor beneath the dinette table (which is now serving as the base of the bed). They're out of sight, but she can get to them, and it's easy to slide the tray out, replace the papers, then slide the tray back in.

The "surround sound makes the whole coach rock" Yeah, right!
Our 5'er had table/chairs instead of booth dinette and we really liked it. We could move chairs into main floor area for sitting, watching TV, etc. With MH, I'm liking the extra storage but miss using chairs instead of benches. But, not bad enough to consider taking it out.
We have a 1999 24' Jamboree with dinette. The house heater and power inverter are located under the left seat and the hot water heater is located under the right seat. There's no way we could remove the dinette and re-locate that stuff.
To some it's a six pack, to me it's a support group.
