I'm installing a Prosine 1800W inverter. Do I really need the interface kit to put up the control panel a few feet away from the inverter or can I just get a telephone extension cord? The cord length will just be around 6'.

The interface kit doesn't seem to give you much: a jack to plug into, a power switch with an LED indicator, and "internal filtering" for the 30' extension cord supplied. Not much for the $60+ bucks they go for.

Thanks for your advice.

I installed the Prosine 1000 in my fiver and just used a telephone cable like you are thinking. It works fine.

Me too. I have the 1800. Just used 12 ft. of telephone cable.

My Prosine 2.0 came with the inverter. display and the phone type cable.

I'm not sure w/o checking if it's a standard phone cable but see no reason it should not be (I know A&E does not use a standard phone cable)
