I pretty much agree with what has been posted, having lived in Denver for three years and Cheyenne for 18 years and traveling the area as part of my job. Most years March is the #1 month for snow in the Rockies with April coming in at #2. In March it is also frequently very windy from Denver north into Cheyenne and west to Utah as well. Both I-25 and I-80 are sometimes closed due to high winds either with or without snow to blow about. It is fairly common for the highway departments to advise against travel with "high profile" vehicles as well.
That is the route that I too would choose, but allow time to be able to sit out any bad weather or high winds as you travel.
We have made the trip many times between Florida and Washington State. We are in Washington State now (arrived in July from Fla) and will be departing for Fla again with our 5th wheel on Nov 20th. I personally would NOT be driving to Washington via the states you mentioned in the winter months. There are several passes you will have to drive over which are certain to have snow on them in winter. Now, in winter time, we will be taking I-5 south and connecting to 10 to avoid the passes we went over in July.
If you travel through those states in summer however...Yellowstone is a must if you have never been there. Safe traveling!!!!

Also, as this is our first long distance camping vacation, we would like to purchase a "fillable map" of the U.S. Not sure what to call it, but have seen many on various RV's. It's the ones that you color in after visiting each state. Anyone have an idea where we could purchase one?
