A few months ago the above wasn't possible, yesterday this was done with a GPS antenna and an Air Card. (and a lot of settings tweeking)

Err, sorry but we did this back in 2006/2007 using a Sprint aircard/router and a Samsung Q1 running originally Frodo and then Road Runner software.
I'd point you at the posts and threads but the forum only holds a years worth of history.

like in 'it seems like yesterday'

Corky - your click appears to be, for some strange reason, totally meaningless video. Is it a blackberry kind of thing? I am getting that warm feeling that I am totally underwater, have NO idea of what's going on in this other world of yours. I DO know that if I wait long enough (like 3-4 weeks) suddenly all this fancy stuff will be sold as one unit at WalMart and be advertised as a Christmas special. By then, I'll have some idea what it does and I'll be one of the fart smellers, oops - smart fellers - like you guys. So there!

You got it figured right. At times it's a real curse, having the desire for the latest and greatest Gizmo. ...but the DROID is positively a satisfying FIX ...for now

As one reply pointed out, it doesn't do anything really new. It's just another step forward in the smart phone world; to have Motorola design an iPhone like platform around Google products, running seamlessly on Google's Operating System with Verizon's 3GG network.

It's no longer, waiting for Verizon to get the iPhone, now it's, who cares, the DROID does it better... for now

I recently purchased my Droid. I am looking to tether it to my laptop, via usb or bluetooth. I have been to the Motorola Droid site, but cannot find the right drivers, etc.

Can you please offer a step by step approach to accomplishing this goal.

Thank you very much.

Droid can be tethered via USB, with PdaNet Android version and the drivers for the A855 moto-droid

the needed BT profiles are NOT included in android2 OS to tether via BT

Droid moto driver http://www.smilepak.com/temp/Droid_USB_Driver.zip

PdaNet for androidhttp://www.junefabrics.com/android/

i'm using the Droid tethered to my laptop

download the driver zip file & PdaNet
extract the driver exe file, and run it

after this is done, run pdanet on the PC

do NOT plugin the phone until pdanet asks you to
follow the pdanet on screen instructions for connecting procedures

after everything is install and ready

plugin phone

start pdanet on the phone, then click on the pda icon in the task bar and click connect

to dis-connect
reverse the procedure
click disconnect at pc then turn pda off on the phone, then unplug cable

NEW info for enabling BT...I have NOT tried this

How is the Droid battery life? The mention of tethering with Bluetooth made me think of this - no charging of the phone while tethered. My iPhone, which used to last for 3 days, settled into a steady day and a half before charging is required - although that may be attributed to how much more I use it or tower/wifi strength.

well i tether some 'via usb' everyday, which charges while tethering

so it hard for me to tell

but I spent the first 3 days almost exclusively using the phones browser for surfing and forum duties and was able to go the day on 1 charge and then re-charge at night, that was only a few minutes of calls but a number of hrs of internet perhaps 4-5 hrs certainly over 3hrs, the large display uses most of the power when doing any thing like maps or internet or video

yesterday it was on 80% when i woke up and 40% charge when i connected to the PC about 7pm, after doing my errands and going to the Dr office and using the net and playing bejeweled while waiting around the clinc, did not get out of there until 3:30pm my app was at 1pm

I think its one of the better phones i've had in that regard, some people have gotten bad batteries or bad hardware ?

I know one guy who got a replacement, his first one ran out of power by 11:30 am, the new one goes all day and is at 80% charge at 5pm
