So last winter I winterized my RV, including draining the water out of the water heater. Now I cannot seem to get steaming hot water like it used to, it did not seem to be a big deal until this last weekend when it started getting cold.

Am I missing something here?

A few options: Do you have the bypass valve still in bypass. You would get a spurt of hot water, then cold.

Do you have good flow out the HOT tap? The outlet or inlet to the tank may be restricting flow?

Your HWT high temperature sensor may be getting defective and causing the heater to cut out too soon. Use a thermometer to check the temperature and see what the manual calls for.

If you have an outside shower head, check to make sure that both the hot and cold valves are turned completly off. If they are open, even slightly, the system seems to go into a recurclation to the main water supply tank. We had this problem and took it to the dealer. They just smiled and said that the hot and cold valves were open about 1/4 turn each, which caused the problem, it happends alot. That fixed our hot water problem. You are right, the hot water is steaming hot normally.

Good Luck

OK so yet another newbie mistake, I had my bleed valve open, you know the one one that allows you to adjust how much cold water mixes with the hot water coming out of the heater .... closed it and BAM! Blistering hot water ...

Thank you all for your help.
