Planning our first snowbird winter and beyond. Hoping to add New Mexico in the early spring. When can we be reasonably assured of no snow and above freezing weather?? Taos, Albequerque, Santa Fe, Roswell, the caverns and more on our agenda. Thanks for any assistance.

Late April. My SIL and BIL live in White Rock area and we visited in late April. We had one snowy day with squalls during a week visit, the rest of the time was 60's and low 30's at night.

Must be a big swing in temperature between late April and early May in that area. We went through Roswell this past May 8th on the way to Carlsbad and it was 105 degrees there.
Normal Roswell Temps in Feb are above freezing even at night. That said it also has a record -30 in Feb. Roswell is only 3600ft above sea level. Albuquerque is 5000 and Santa Fe is about 6400 so you can have very nice weather in Roswell in Feb and still be freezing in Santa Fe in May.
GENERALLY, April will be nice both in the northern mountains and southern desert. April may have freezing in Taos at night but the days will warm up nicely. You can expect a 25 degree difference between day and night temps so anyplace that is cold at night will be nice in the day and any hot day will have a cool night.

Well - a few years ago, enroute home to CO after our winter in AZ we spent a pretty lousy birthday (mine) in Taos in late April - pretty heavy snow with brisk wind - not QUITE a blizzard! Lasted all day!
