We have a 32' fifth wheel now. It seems no one makes a fifth wheel without interior steps. As we get older the interior steps get more difficult. We gave up our truck camper because it was getting harder to climb in and out of the bed. In another year or two we will need something on one level. We would like one with at least two slides and 35'to 40'. We have a 350 diesel dually with factory camper pkg and tow pkg. Rear is 4:10 and five speed auto.
I looked at Air stream but they have no slides. Our fifth wheel is a Cedar Creek. What other makes are there in the medium range like Cedar Creek. I also figure we will use the hansley arrow hitch. I know there are about 3K.

Friends bought a lightly used Carriage Royals 40' fiver with all one level interior and slide outs (including porch slide). I've seen other fivers with all one level. I think SpaceCraft makes both fivers and TTs, but they tend to be quite heavy and expensive, although you could get almost anything you want.

Couple of things. Carriage Domani and Open Range make travel trailers with high arching rooflines that give more interior room and make the inside more open. These are higher end units with many features.
As far as the Hensely, also consider the 3P which compete's against that hitch. On a personal preference, I think that'd be serious overkill considering your tow vehicle.

I would need your Volvo to pull the Carriage. The spacecraft flat floor is an 18 wheeler type trailer with 22.5 tires. That would need your Volvo too. I drove those big trucks 28 years. Been retired seven years now and going fast down the slippery slope on the other side.

Add Komfort and Arctic Fox to you list. Both made in the NW and may be hard to find in the Est, but both well made. They tend to be heavy but that also cures the dreaded sway issue. A nominal 27' to 32' will weigh around 8,000 empty and gross out over 11,000, which is typically as heavy a TT as is commonly available. Tongue weights are around 1,200lbs and get heavier with cargo and water. And the factory weight sheets are pretty accurate.
Both have web sites. Arctic Fox is Northwood Mfg.
You might be surprised at how much useful space they have put in these units.

Airstream makes a model with slides. Also, Tango from Pacific Coaschworks is a well made travel trailer and has slides.

I would look at an Arctic Fox. You will have to drive to Niemeyers in Maple Grove, MN to get your best deal.
