Dan, what does the owners manual say? I bet you will need a LUBE Pump from REMCO.

According to remcotowing.com, tow dolly only unless it is a manual transmission.

It cannot be towed 4 down.
There are no late model Toyota vehicles (with automatic transmissions)that can be safely towed 4 down without installing an auxillary oil pump for the transmission. i.e. Remco.
Or you can always use a tow dolly.

Just an FYI; for a car in the same size class I believe you'll find the Ford Fusion AWD is able to be flat towed with no modifications. The Edge and Flex AWD models are and the AWD system is the same to my understanding.

We tow a manual transmission model Fusion and it makes a wonderful tow vehicle.

And as much as I'm not a fan of Consumer Reports, in their blog titled "Ford Fusion – The best car you don’t know about", even they are saying great things about the Fusion.

Just one snip for the above link; "Two more pluses: Not only does the Fusion have excellent crash-test results but it’s also one of the more reliable cars in our annual auto survey. It is more reliable than the ubiquitous Toyota Camry, an honor it’s held since the Camry’s 2007 redesign."

Take a look.

I would NOT ask the dealer for their advice/knowledge-- it is too likely that they will not know and could even tell you what you want to hear to sell you a car. I WOULD ask the dealer to look at a copy of the Owners Manual.

And the statement that no late model Toyotas are towable 4 wheels down applies ONLY to the automatic transmission models. Toyota does have manual transmission models that ARE towable 4 wheels down, including the Camry.

If you are a member of FMCA, go to this website for a list of what is towable 4 wheels down for each of the last 10 years: http://www.fmca.com/index.php/magazine/towing/204-towing-index

Be careful with that towing guide as Toyota/Lexus changed the status of some models from "towable" to "NOT towable" after their release. Unfortunately these changes came after some people had bought these for towing and had transmission issues.

Being that the Camry is front wheel drive, only the manual transmission is towable. All automatics in the Camry have to be towed on a dolly.
