Tragic and very sad, our hopes and prayers to the RV owner, the victims, the mother and children, and families. As a side note all 3 of the horses had to be destroyed. A lot of lives were changed forever. God bless and be careful.

It is scary to think of someone driving all that equipment (RV plus horse trailer complete with 3 horses) and all that weight that doesn't know which pedal is the brake. Overweight, over-length, driving in the wrong lane, and speeding. And he just got tickets? He should lose his license.

There's no doubt there are some folks driving RVs or OTHER vehicles that certainly should not be driving anything. Hope everyone makes it ok.

Just my take: It sounds like to me that the man's age may have come into play on this, since the report states he thought he was using the brake, instead of the gas. I believe the report said he was 72. His motor skills may not be good enough at this point in his life to be driving a class A with large trailer with all the weight to go a long with it. I pray for all involved in this.

I can't find where the RV driver was ticketed for "overweight".
I do find it interesting, though, that he was issued an overlength ticket. That should be a definitive answer to the controversy over whether length laws apply ONLY to commercial operators!
I hope I am smart enough to hang up the keys to all vehicles before I do something like that, or my wife is smart enough to take the keys away from me!
But then, I have read stories of relative youngsters having done the same or similar things.
I pray everybody heals OK.

Saw this on the 6 o'clock news, so sad.. Yet you all have read on this forum about guys driving 70-75 mph.. The speed limit on 465 around Indy is 55, if you drive that you will get run over and alot of fingers.. We have a house South of Indy and we drive this alot.. Still not as bad as Atlanta or LA.. Our thoughts are with the families..

If someone hits the gas instead of the brakes and doesn't realize it right away they should NOT be driving.

I find the posts on this interesting because every time someone posts about having to take a driving test to operate large RV rigs, there is a hue and cry about how unnecessary the test is, etc. I'm not saying that a driving test would have made the difference in this particular case, but that having people show that they can handle the rig is something that every state should do.
