We were thinking about staying around Everglades City for 1 night on our way to the races in Homestead. We've been to Mid-way and Collier-Seminole before on the way down . Was thinkng about Barron River RV Park, but I cn't find any reviewsof this park ..... any comments about the park ???
The review of Barron River seems fair, matches our experience. Have also stayed at a small park on Chokoloskee Island, but prefer Barron River. There is also an Outdoor Resorts on Chokoloskee, for $69 and up..
If that's the park I think it is, it was destroyed by H. Wilma and, as of last season, was being, very sloooowly, being rebuilt into a high end, motorcoach resort. Haven't been down to EC yet this season so don't know how it's progressing. Suggest calling.
I believe you will find this park is closed and Everglades Isle resort has replaced it. The park is spectacular. Sites are listed for sale starting around $500,000 (not a misprint 1/2 of 1 million dollars) It is NOT worth it. Directly accross from the park are the docks and Marinas. This includes the famously noisy and mean as disturbed gator Airboat captains. They get a big hoot out of backing up to the RV pads and gunning the engines, spraying your rig with brackish water if you have somehow caught their attention and upset them. A large number of these guys were drug runners in earlier life (chokoloskie island was ground zero for the 60s pot trade and later the "square grouper" of the cocaine era. )I have no clue what these sites are renting for, but the park opened about the same day the stock market collapsed, so I doubt there have been many sales. It is spectacularly constructed, and a real marvel if it wasn't for the river traffic and being a long way from anywhere. If you are into all things Americana, visit the local grocery store, and you can say you have been in the worst market in America. Quite a trophy for your bucket list. The lcoal eateries are great to fair, Stone crab is readily available and is what people come to the area for. That and the fishing. If you like more to do, Naples trumps, hands down. If you want to kick back relax stuff your face with seafood, maybe tour a swamp or catch some Snook, give it a try!

If it has been converted to Everglades Isles, then I'm not interested. I did driveby there last year and wasn't impressed. Sites Packed right together, no vegetation== just pvers
BTW, square grouper refers to bundle(s)/bales of pot, not coke--
