I think I am going to go this way instead of mounting out search on the roof. Which one would you all recommend? Thanks!

Can you be more specific? Winegard makes several different DSS antennas including the VuCube.

What do you really want to do?

I can't remeber right now who makes the Vu but it's not Winegard. Winegard has their own new carry out. I think it would just be better to have a carry out since there always seems to be trees where I am and the carry out will give me more options if a tree is in the way.

DOH !..
You're right.. That's what I get for listening to the CW guy. I have seen the inside of the Winegard and it's really built solid. I worry that my little open face collapsible dish might walk. These would keep me up at night..$$

We have the VuQube 1000 and like it very much. We have Dish service and all the channels that we watch are on 119 so that works okay. I built a shelf to mount it on our rear ladder whenever that has a view of the south/southwest sky and it works well most of the time. I don't have first hand knowledge of the Winegard system but do know that it requires two connections, one cable and one 12v power connection and the VuQube only requires the cable connection.

I trust you folks that use these chain 'em up when you have it outside. I can imagine that they could disappear pretty quickly otherwise.

I use a bungee cord to keep the wind from blowing it off the shelf. We have camped in all 48 lower states and have never felt like we had to chain everything down in any campground we have been in. Relax and enjoy your travels.

You don't say what service you are using, but just be aware that if you are a DirecTV HD subscriber, you will not be able to get HD programming with a dome...any dome.
