so, I took the plunge today and bought a 2001 Jamboree 26F. My first class C.

Happy with the rig, but, the previous owners had a dog, and I fear that fleas inhabit the interior carpeting.

Any reason to not just set off a standard "flea bomb" and go away for a while?

If you do make sure the propane is turned off. If the flea bomb doesn't work, Flea Busters powder works very well. It's messy but does the trick.

I don't think I'd bomb it except as a last resort. Bombs don't get up under and into the soft areas. A strong vacuum and do the floor to start with..because you are going to be standing on it..and then all the upholstered bits..dinette, bed, overhead. It's suggested to bag and freeze everything you can..bedding, pillows, etc. Vacuum the floor again, spray with some sort of anti-everything ..Febreeze, Mr Clean, Lysol...let that dry. Fleas and eggs have a 1-2 week cycle, so you'll want to redo the vacuuming in that time frame. Be thorough and you'll have the problem taken care of.

For Sure on any flames........ a lot of companies use propane as the propelant in a lot of spray cans, so you are realy making a big bomb if the right conditions come into play.
I have had real good luck with some stuff that I got at Home Depot it's call. Enforcer Flea spray in the 1 gal container I put it in a Hudson sprayer and did the whole house it is good for 7 or 9 months I had to do it two times the wife vacumed 3 times a week and we got all them critters.

So you have not seen fleas yet. set some paper out and watch. We have a large dog and with the new products out now we do not have problems any more and will say we have had problems in the past. As one said the bombs put the stuff every where so if you have them vacuum very well on a regular basis. Then you may use just a house insecticide spray around the edges baseboards. and you should be fine. Only if you have a major flea infestation would I bomb.

good luck and congrats you your new to you rig

Agree that first, determining whether there are fleas is key. Most pet owners, living in close quarters, will tend to have flea-free animals. If there are fleas, suggest you sprinkle boric acid powder into the carpet and sweep it in with a broom. This is packaged as roach killer at places like Lowe's. Read the package to be sure. This stuff eats the fleas external skeleton, kills the adults and completely interrupts the life cycle should any be hatched. Vacuum lightly after about two weeks and you'll never see a flea. Did this in every condo, apartment and house I've lived in over the last 20 years and after application have never seen a flea... or a roach for that matter.

Fleas have no animal host now so they are hungry. Vacuum every day or so for a couple of weeks also and it will help a lot.

You "FEAR" there might be fleas?
Put on a pair of white socks. Walk around in the rig. If they are there, you will see them on the socks.
I would not use chemicals in such a closed living area. The boric acid powder mentioned above works very well. OR you could borrow the neighbors dog, let it run around in the rig for about 30 min or so.....

Find a Co-op store and ask the counter person for the dry package powder flea killer. (Cant remember the name) The package is white and contains 5 or 6 packets. Cost it about 10.00-11.00 dollars. Mix one package to 1 gallon of water in a garden sprayer (i used 2 to a gallon). Spray everywhere on carpets and around baseboards. Does not have a smell and does not stain, though i don't think i'd put it on bedding. Let it set for 1 day and repeat process. On end of 2nd day check to make sure water has dried, and you will never have a problem at all. Kills everything alive and not hatched. Hope that helps. The name of the package starts with an x.

Look out America here we come, from your rolling hills to your urban cities we will see it all.....in time...
