DH and I just contracted for a new house in a new, small subdivision. The lot is about 1/4 acre. The question: We were thinking of having an extra sewer cleanout put in so we could use it after camping trips.
Know some people have them on their properties. What are the problems involved with this, and do you think it's an intrusion on the neighbots to do this? I have some real concerns.
Thanks in advance for your opinions and experiences.

That's exactly what we had done at our home 9 yrs ago, in subdivision. We just paid plumber cash to add extra cleanout, just outside bathtub area, when they were laying the sewer lines. I believe we paid him $20.
When I asked City Bldg Inspector about putting in sewer connection for an rv, he told me it would need environmental study, etc, etc. Then he said if I wanted extra cleanout near tub or shower, that would be no problem. Go figure.
If you can do it as I did and rv can be close enough to use it, do it. Don't bother telling anyone else (neighbors) about it.

A big plus. I can think of no harm it could do to neighbors if installed correctly. Every house in my subdivision has one, along with electric and water.

Yep! My county inspector told me the same thing! I told him I wanted an RV dump area, and it took till the 3rd time of him telling me (hey! I'm slow sometimes!)to watch my "terminology." It would take a special permit, and lots of $$$ and a special hearing for an RV dump to be added to my septic system. Or I could install an "extended cleanout" without any special permits! I am glad I have an "extended cleanout" to use when I get back from trips.
Think about adding a 50 amp hookup too. The electric company had to replace my underground electric because of a faulty ground, and they layed down 110 ft of conduit as they back filled! So I ran a 50 amp wire even though I have a 35 amp motorhome--just in case I get a bigger rig someday, is all I have to do is change the plug from 35 to 50 amp.

OK, I am curious. who makes a 35 amp RV? of course one could just use a macerator pump and pump thru a garden hose into any cleanout that is handy.

My Dad had a 4" "sewer cleanout" installed out by his garage when the house was being built, as well as a 30A outlet. It cost him a couple hundred dollars more to the plumber, but it sure was nice when we visited him in our fiver, we set up in his backyard.
It's a great idea.

On a ¼ acre lot I would be real careful when I dumped… it would not be legal to use and one complaint from the neighbor can draw a citation

We live in a subdivision and park the TT on a paved driveway extention next to the garage. A previous owner had a 20 amp electrical outlet and a "sewer cleanout" installed in just the right place. I had a plumber add a dedicated water line with a frost proof faucet...instant FHUs. The way it's constructed I doubt the neighbors could tell when I use it to dump unless they are standing in my driveway.

It should not be a problem and none of the neighbors business. If you are out camping, you are not using the sewer at home. Dumping your TT at home is the same as if you never left, actually less as most conserve when they camp due to holding tank size. Now, if they see your friends RV dumping, then it could be an issue.
