Ouch!! Lucky you got out of there with your shirt still on! 4300 to repair a frig? How much is a new one?
Our Norcold 1200LRIM can be replaced with a new Norcold refrigerator for under $3600, well under, the last time I checked. Lazy Days has always been a rip off, but they had top of the line sales people who made you believe they were the best and doing you a favor.

ANY repair shop that won't let you in the service area...beware, they say it's for our safety...BS

Lazy Days is only out for the $$$.

Time to learn a little about the business world:

1. Insurers, not the dealer, usually set the 'no customers in the service area' rule.

2. Yes, LD is indeed out for the $$$ -- what business isn't? That's the idea of being in business, isn't it?

Hmm, in my experience, most repair places are eager to get you into the service area when they want to show you something bad/scary/strange in order to get you to authorize additional repairs. I guess their insurance policies had a special exemption for selling efforts? NOT!

Another tidbit, the first RV insurance policy we got when we bought the RV stated that the insurance coverage was void if the RV was driven by anyone except the drivers named on the policy (DW and me). When I took it in for service, I pointed this out to the service writer and they let me drive the unit in and out of the service bays with one of their techs directing me.

I have had repairs at 2 different rv dealers/repair facilities recently, and was invited in or just walked in without difficulty every time. In some cases they wanted to ask me questions, in others I needed to point out problems. I, also, would not utilize any place that would not let me enter where my property is located so we could work together to discuss repair issues. Good for you for walking away when you realized you were being used (in this case to offset millions in debt with a few thousand from you-lol!).

And I saw some 12' Norcolds for around $3K.

States I have spent the night in my current rig, bought three years ago.
Have RV'ed through 49 states and been in all 50, just short of my half-century.

Cooling units that have been remanufactured and tested to more rigorous standards with thicker tubing than the OEM stuff, can be had on-line for well under $1K, including shipping costs. Your fridge would probably have had only one thermistor in the cooling cabinet and they are anywhere from $40.00 to $100.00 retail. Those are whopping labour rates to rack up an additional $3K!

Peeling off some caulking is just plain mean. Too bad they don't get caught at that kind of stuff more often.

Thanks for your interest.. I hope no one gets taken when they get repairs. I had a local RV shop reseal the skylight for $20 and they sold me a tube of the sealant so I can do any others myself. I agree, its your rv and you should be shown any and all situations before the work is done. This could be done outside the shop area to meet any insurance requirements. Yes we were able to escape, but we saw so many older cutomers there that would probably fall for the gimicks,ie: free food, and a comfortable lounge etc., and just go with the diagnosis and pay the prices. We did not stay to see the Tiffin 2010 RV show with Bob Tiffin. I wonder if he knows who he is dealing with?

Stay away from Orlando RV, they are just as unethical. Just about the money, don't trust them.

My son bought an rv from them and they had to stay with us while LD was "repairing" the rv...they called and said it was ready to be picked up...we went to get it and it was still sitting in the parking lot and looking in the door we found the broken items that were still laying there waiting to be fixed.....I confronted the service adviser and she "swore" that she had personally inspected the repairs herself. When I asked her to walk out with us and show us I opened the door and asked her how she had gotton over the broken stuff laying in front of the door for her inspection.....she immediately started to back track......they called again and said it was ready......a second time they calledthe requested work was still not done.. HK Wallace would be rolling over in his grave if he knew what his son and the employees (owners) did to his business.

I had some repairs done to our previous trailer at LD. The work was done as requested and on time. Their rates are a little higher but acceptable.
