Was poking thru the NH Craigslist when I stumbled across a 93 Fleetwood American Eagle for the handsome price of $4,200.00. Thats Four Thousand two hundred, NOT fourty two thousand.
Just for yucks I sent an email asking about the condition/price to see if it was a typo. Below is the reply;
Hello,
Thank you for your interest in purchasing my vehicle. The vehicle is in perfect condition - like new! If you decide to buy it, you'll receive all the papers, owner manual, keys, a buy-sell contract already signed by me and the clear title. For this transaction I want to use ebay because I want to provide you a fast and very secure way. They will handle the transaction for me. You will make the payment to ebay and they will hold the money until you receive and inspect the vehicle. ONLY AFTER you receive the vehicle and you inspect it (you have 5 days for inspection) ebay will release the payment to me. The inspection time period will begin as soon as you receive the vehicle at your address. Meanwhile eBay will hold the money into a trust account. So, this is not a blind transaction, you can see the vehicle before you decide to buy it. This way we are both protected : i will know that i have a serious buyer who has the money to pay me and you will be able to see and inspect the vehicle before buying it .
The vehicle is priced to sell quickly and the final price that I'm asking for it is $4,200 including shipping and handling costs. My husband died in Iraq 3 months ago and I along with my daughter decided to sell the house and move to my sister. I can't afford to take days off my work for this sale so i'm trying to sell it online.
If you are really interested in purchasing the vehicle please send me your full name, shipping address and your phone number. Ebay will give you all the details regarding the shipping and payment.
I will appreciate an answer as soon as possible.
Regards!
Jill Muetter
P.S.: Below you will a full desription and the pictures i have taken for this sale. Please take a closer look before you decide.
I sent a 2nd email asking about the RV and here's the second reply;
Hello again,
The vehicle is at eBay's shipping center in San Jose,CA and from there it will be shipped to my buyer's address. The vehicle was listed for sale in an auction on eBay but I have removed the add because of some 'serious' buyers . They promissed they will buy the vehicle from me but they proved not to have the money to pay for it .I have registered the vehicle with eBay's Vehicle Protection Program and they work only with das auto shippers, so a local pick-up is not an option.This transaction is covered by ebay's purchase protection program up to 50,000 USD and if something goes wrong in this transaction you will be fully refunded. In the invoice you will have the details on how to make a refundable payment and shipping back the vehicle will be my concern. I strongly assure you it will not be the case for a refund. I have used the eBay Vehicle Purchase Protection in the past and all my transaction ended succesfully. You pay to eBay and they will transfer the funds to me only after you get the vehicle. Shipping will be door to door, to your home address, somebody must be home when the vehicle arrives.
I apologize if it seems like I'm pushing on this deal but I really want to be sure that everything is clarified before any further steps. Please let me know if some of the terms don't fit you or if you have other questions. I'm a serious seller and I prefer to deal with a serious buyer.
If you wish to proceed with the purchase, please provide me your full name and address so I can initiate the deal through eBay right away.
I am looking forward to hearing from you.
So sad to see the "My husband died in Iraq" statement. Yeah, a 40K motorhome selling for 4,200.00 and they can't find a serious buyer!
Be carefull all!

I was on the RV trader and a dealership had a bunch of 400K Class A's for $45K. I got really excitted but when I called I found that apparently someone hacked their account and made a few adjustments.... If it looks too good to be true... You know what they say...
Funny though as I found another deal but the price was not so low.. Exactly the same story. Actually got 2 replies the same for 2 diff. rigs. I replied back with some choice words I can't post here.
If Craigslist charged to advertise, even a small amount, we wouldn't see so many scams. IMO, Craigslist is not the place serious buyers shop, nor serious sellers advertise. I know there are isolated cases of people buying & selling on CL that were satisfactory experiences, but from my personal experience (and as you know, I'm an automobile dealer), CL is garbage. Stick to the better sites & the results will be better.

See them all the time in the local newspaper. Work at home scams, get grant money free, cheap cell phone account, and on and on. Even a article yesterday on veterans assistance benefits that gave a web site address that charges $43 for a book with instructions on how to apply for those benefits!!! It is free at the local state and county veteran clinics or thru VFW, A.L., or DAV service officers. That $43 book is the biggest scam of all in my book! There is a sucker born every minute and a scammer to take him for a ride.
Not so fast! That is obviously a scammer but I have gotten some smokin' deals on craigslist.org . There are some clone sites out there (cl .com) which is why I posted the real address.
I just bought a 1989 27' Class A off of CL for $1500. I drove it home! The owners wife told him to get it out of the yard, she was tired of looking at it and not using it. I have it ready to use and only spent another $600. on it including two front tires which were still OK but I wanted them new on the steering axle. I called 10 minutes after it was listed and went straight up to look at it 10 miles away. Their phone was ringing off of the hook!
I also bought a $2500. metal working machine for $600. and a 19' $7500. boat for $5500. You have to be quick to get the good deals and know what you are looking at.
There is no substitute for common sense when dealing with people you don't know. Only a fool (and a greedy one at that) could fall for that add but you KNOW they must work some small percentage of the time or there wouldn't be so many folks out there doing the scamming. I've actually won as many a six lotteries that I never entered in a single day and it just HAPPENED to be the same day that someone mistook me for someone else and offered to send me a couple of million bucks that they believed they owed me

I often reply to things like this because you never know. When I see it is a scam I reply back that it is an amazing coincidence my brother in law just retired from law enforcement in the exact town where the unit is located and can be there immediately to check it out. For some reason they never reply!
