Anyone change out the outside speakers? Mine sound horible and was looking for suggestions on what type to put it that would sound good. Looks like the ones I have are 5 or 6" speakers which require a square end srewdriver head to get them out. Do I have to modify the existing holes?

Most seem to be a standard size, 6" with a 5 1/8 min. cutout. You may want to look at the new Kicker Marine KM 6000 speakers, they aren't expensive (about $65 & free ship on Ebay) and most reviews I have read are very good. I am considering replacing mine with a pair soon.

Only thing I found was Clarion's 6.5's that would fit in the the shallow walls.

Why not remove one and visit your local auto stereo shop, Best Buys, or marine supply store.
Match it up with a marine speaker. Try to get one that has the same Ohms reading as yours. Don't bother upgrading to a super size 100W speaker because your radio amplifier probably won't handle it...unless that's what's in there now.
As already mentioned, they are a little more pricey than the regular speakers, but look what they have to go through.
As for the square screw head, that's a common screw used on RV's. You can get a square bit at your local hardware store or Lowe's.
Good luck.

I'm sure your neighbors will like the improved sound quality and volume with the new speakers.

The OP mentioned sound quality, not quantity.

Besides, if you are going to blast your neighbors it might as well sound good for them too

This is what I am considering as an upgrade for my outside speakers. Since I have a Toy Hauler it would be so easy to carry around..

....AND I bet it would sound really cool reverberating off the sides of all the Class A motorhomes!!!

I'm pretty sure the leaves were green in that photo before that system fired up!
