Do you think the outside speakers are louder than the toys?

Thanks for all the info. I will check out the kicker speakers...

Hi Code3,

As I said before they do look promising for outside speaker replacements. Not only are they relatively low powered at 50 watts RMS max, but at only 2.5" deep they should be a good fit for most applications. My WW has 2" walls (like most) but they have internal boxes that give extra depth so they should fit perfectly.

If you do get those, and do so before I do, please post back your feedback here, I will do the same.

Ivylog, I don't think anybody is saying don't participate - heck I don't own a Toy Hauler anymore and I still participate here. What's being suggested is that unless you are going to participate in the on topic discussion, then don't bother to, that's all. This topic started off as questions as to help on replacing outside speakers, not complaining about outside speakers. I wish I could say this was the only time, however I think every time any Toy Hauler owner asks about speakers we get those that just wish to be critical, thus the blue hair name calling.

What is so ironic is the complainers are actually being just as rude to the OP's reqest for information as they seem to feel the person(s) who play their music too loud when camping.

If it is such an important topic to them, then they should start their own thread discussing the use and/or abuse of outside speakers... instead of hijacking another's thread for information.

Also from my experience almost every single "abuser" of loud music I have ever heard in a camping area was by tent campers with "Boom Boxes" :-) Not a jab at tent campers (I was one for over 40 years and still am on occasions), just my experience.

Thanks for all the nice comments, especially the blue hair as it's better than no hair. Besides a MH I own a F350 and 5er but not a TH. In my many years on these forums this is the first where I should not comment unless I own one. You all seem to be a touchy group and part of the me generation. I ride dual sport and boondock a lot but usually camped besides a lake. The Desert is not my thing so maybe sound does not travel as far and loud as it does across water. Having to listen to someones hard rock from 1/2 mile away (sound travels that well across water) is not my idea of being a good neighbor and is not how I was brought up in the camping community. You were correct in assuming that outside speakers are not my thing and yes, I use headphones when watching my outside LCD and no, it's not becauses of the generator running as I have an inverter with lots of batteries to power it.

Again, the comments come from a point of total inexperience. It's a shame you had a bad experience where you camp. Your river experience and our desert experience are apples and oranges though.

Is our group touchy about this subject? Yep. Kinda like you're touchy about loud music at the river: it's intrusive. Likewise, the off-topic posts are intrusive. See how that works?

And as far as the "me" generation goes, how insulting (and off base).

You can see how we get "touchy" when folks wander into these conversations and make baseless judgments like these.

Back to the speakers... I knew I had seen the new Kickers on a Toy Hauler somewhere before and finally remembered they were on the new Warrior Lifestyles TH at the Sand Sports Super Show..

Just replaced mine with Alpine and the quality is much improved-

The new speakers were slightly smaller so I cut some 9" aluminum circles, cut out the correct hole for the speakers, Painted the aluminum white, screwed the speakers to the aluminum and screwed the aluminum to the trailer.

Easy job and great sound.

You went SMALLER ? !

That in itself should get you booted from this group!

Think of all the fun words we used to have to describe someone we thought was a moron. My favorite word when I was a kid (I can't say it anymore) rhymes with, uh, tree-guard. How many different incarnations has that word seen over my lifetime? I think the current version is "window licker".

My weekend warrior came with 6x9's behind a hatch which can be opened. or closed and locked for travel, protecting the speakers from theft. The back side has an enclosure that allows for a deeper speaker which will typically produce richer lows. And they do double duty holding up a corner of the lower electric queen bed.

LMAO Window licker... These just conjure up images that you can't help but laugh at. My kids just used that one the other day.
Thanks Dave, you tree-guard.
