As a former member of the Canadian Armed Forces, I would like to say thanks to all who have served or are serving on this day of remembrance. As I type this I am watching "Remembrance Day" services from our capital Ottawa. This is one of the only years that I have not either put on my uniform or worn my medals with pride on this special day.

I'm afraid that I was smaller around when on active duty. My uniform would not fit. Air National Guard, 5 years, Air Force, 1 year (Berlin Wall went up).

It's those dark closets that shrink those uniforms, so I've been told. I also went to Germany in Sept. 61 when the wall went up. I also served over there in 67. I had the opportunity to go over last fall to the area that I lived and saw all the old camps plus the houses I lived in. It brought back lots of memories.

We have just watched the Remembrance Day ceremonies on TV from both locally here in Victoria and the very large one in the capital, Ottawa.
At both events, they said that the crowds were much larger than they have ever been. They also commented on the large numbers of younger people that are attending these ceremonies.
In the past couple of weeks, I have been pleasantly surprised by the numbers of young people wearing the Remembrance Day Poppies.
I have to say that of all the 'holidays', this one probably has by far the greatest impact on me of them all.

My hat does not even fit. I would hate to think what the rest of the uniform would be like. I would love to wear my uniform on occasions. but cannot justify the cost of purchasing one. Our church has a big celebration on days like this and has everyone's service picture flashed on a big screen. Very impressive..
