The wife and I are planning to spend Thanksgiving week in Branson Missouri. We have never been there, but we are anxious to visit. We have booked several shows and looking forward to the Christmas Specials. We were just wondering what the weather might be like. I have checked the weather channel and it seems the lows will be around the freezing point. Being from south Louisiana we are not used to driving in snow and ice. Any suggestions?

While snow and ice aren't unheard of, it is rare in that part of MO during Thanksgiving. If you encounter snow just drive slow, if you encounter ice pull into a service station or other lot and wait until you see a salt truck. But as I said, chance are you won't need to be concerned.
What campground are you staying at? Most of the campgrounds, motels, and visitor centers will give you a local map that will be a great aid in finding your way around town.

Branson is great this time of year. Just remember, on Friday the day after thanksgiving is when all the crazy shoppers descend on Branson. Don't expect to go anywhere on that day. They turn off all the traffic lights and post a cop at every intersection and the traffic looks like a herd of turtles.I would suggest staying at the Branson city campground downtown on lake Taneycomo. (The fishing is great if you like Trout) You can walk up to the landing to eat or shop. They even have a shuttle that comes down close to the campground. Get a city map and learn the backroads. Make sure and check out the old downtown Branson and eat at the Farmhouse Restaurant. The shows are great, have fun.
Like the other post said, you have a 99% chance of decent weather. Very seldom do they have snow or ice in November.

Hey Firefighter,
I live in southern Missouri on the other side of the state from Branson, and I can't remember having more than just a skiff of snow in November. Most of our snow comes in mid December or in January or February. Branson is a great place to visit this time of year, highs normally in the mid 50's daytime and 30's at night, not to say there aren't exceptions to the rule...A good place to eat if you like seafood is The Rail's located off of 165 on Safari Road, check them out...have a good time and enjoy. jwb.

The weather right now has been 65 for the highs and upper 30's lower 40's for the low. I can only remeber one time in the last 15 years getting snow that early it just does not happen. This is a great time to visit with all the christmas lights and shows going on. Silver dollar city is fantastic with all their lights up. Also the city has a drive thru light scene set up just off shepard of the hills expressway that is very nice we drive thru every year it cost 5.00- 10.00 dollars. Traffic will be brutal that weekend and black friday is the worst even the backroads are bad. Just plan on spending some time in your vehicle that day. Have a great time and glad you are coming.

We have never seen bad weather in the Thanksgiving time frame. I think you will be OK. We really enjoyed the play ---- Noah The Musical. Also recommend a day trip to Eureka Springs if you have time.

Just left Branson after 4 days. Weather was in the 70s. Shows were great and we camped at Comptons.

We are hopefully headed to Branson for Thanksgiving but I haven't made any reservations yet. We have been staying at Branson Ozark Country Campground and like it. Hope we can get in at the last minute but if not I'm sure we will find some place! Can't wait to see the lights and SDC at Christmas. Hope ya'll have a great time.
