I have been very happy to see the greetings and thanks my son got while in the USAF! A great change from when I was in the Marines at the end of Vietnam!
Thank you for acknoledging the sacrifice that all service people make some are just called upon to make the ultimate sacrifice to protect this great land and our way of life!
Ray, Cheryl, Cory & of course Miss Molly the four-legged child
It is appreciated. It is a far cry different than what my husband received after returning from Vietnam in 1966.
We were just reminising about the trip we took in 1976 from Augsburg, FRG to Luxemburg, to Bastogne, Marche en feme, Brussels and Antwerp, Belgium.
The Belgium Legion invited the VFW thru the American Legion. Our first stop was Luxemburg for the night. The next day we stopped at Bastogne to lay a wreath and to meet with the Lord High Mayer, who treated us to a champagne brunch. Then after lunch, we went to Marche en Feme to lay another wreath and the Lord High Mayor opened a gasthaus and treated us to a lot of beer. On Nov 10 we were at a dinner/dance with the Belgium Legion. They said you know of our war from your books or from relatives who may have served in World War I and II. You did not receive the thanks you should have, so we want to let you know your service was appreciated.
I was traveling with 14 men and 2 other women, one of whom was in the Army and I had served my 3 yrs in 1975.
We also have been to the laying of flowers at the Tomb of the Unknown soldier in 1998 and heard President Clinton speak.
It is when I can go to different places to celebrate freedom that makes me glad to be an American. I visited some friends in Berlin in 1975 and felt claustrophobic because I could not leave without the proper papers. My husband was stationed there for 18 months. We wished we could have been there 20 years ago when the wall came down.

WE ARE FREE - WE ARE FREE!! Thanks to all the Veterans that have
served our Great Country. Those that died or wounded and those

My Dad served overseas in WW1. Five brothers and myself all
