I thought you were referring to the city -- which might work, too.
Good campfire story, but make it about a 'friend'.

It started out not so bad..

got worse...

and much worse. The hose is draining water from my tank..

Stayed the night at a truck stop near the I-15 where the Calico road loops around. I feel so lucky to not have broken a U joint, burned up my transmission or done any damage to the RV axles.

I think I would have disconnected and tried a different angle, maybe laid out that board to drive on when I hooked back up.

You should have just gotten into the back seat and driven out. My wife has never seen a situation that couldn't have been handled from that position.

I thought about that, but then what would I do when disconnected? I'd have to drive back into the same place..if I could.

You are a brave man. That does not really seem like an off road kinda truck.
Did you air down the tires? Not 4wd either is it?

In the location link above it does not seem like you were even much off the beaten path. I have been out on some of those desert roads shown on the map that go out much further and they seemed plenty good for towing although my trailer was at the campground. Seems like there were a few spots out there that would have been fine to overnight. You just picked a sand trap.

Enjoyed the pics

Brave.. that's a nice way of putting it! I do like my boondocking, and the young lady with me really wanted to get back off the road.

My truck is not designed for off-road use. It's a 450, just your basic tow truck. Not 4wd, but I sure wish I had one there. I did not think of airing down. I'm just too heavy to be doing this kind of thing without extreme caution. Perhaps my next TV will be 4wd. Might have saved me a lot of grief, but in this situation.. I don't know. I boondock all over the Q and Yuma, and have never seen anything like this.

I'm really feeling it today. I'm very very sore and covered in scratches and cuts. My thighs and back are so stiff I can barely walk. If I weren't in reasonably good shape to begin with, I'd be flat on my back in bed. I won't soon forget this.
