I have a 2001 Norcold N841 2way that has served us well. I had one power board replaced under warranty and outside of that it has worked well. It appears that I may need to replace the power board again. Dinosaur and Norcold options range from $200 - $300.

Does anyone have a clue what the life expectancy of one of these units is? I hate to put money into the unit if it is past it's time.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Hi,

My previous RV was from 1987. The Norcold in it still functions well on electric and propane. The 12 volt setting appears to no longer function.

We got our HiLo in 1995 new and the fridge was still working in 2005 when we traded it in and we never had a problem with it.

The 1200LRIM in our 2000 coach still alive and well. Did replace the two cooling fans on the back. Other than that no negative issues.

My '96 is running strong. Ours run for 7-9 months out of the year.

My Uncle Donnie's '85 gave out three years ago, after snow birding all those winters since new.

I would check prices for your board at "RVmobile.com". Their prices on many are much lower then many other locations.
My Norcold in our old rig lasted as long as we had it except for the eyebrow recall.

Every day past the end of the warranty is "bonus time" on appliances in my care.

Our Norcold wasn't even 2 years old and the cooling unit had to be replaced. This is our first Norcold and the only refer out of 5 previous MH's with that brand. Previously had all Dometic refers. Not that one is any better than the other..who knows? Maybe we just got a "bad un".

It'll last till it quits!! There is no way to know when something will fail even with many studies. Some will go bad in a few days, others a few years and some may go 30 years. YMMV!

Ours has been n 24/7/365 since we got it except to defrost it. It's still working just fine!! In fact in my almost 53 years or RV'ing I've never had one go bad, but then we usually trade every few years. This rigs a keeper so I expect someday ....
